another mix,
In answer to the questions I keep getting asked.
 ccai pt2 , part 1 is Drukqs, as that was the first thing I released that utilised computer controlled instruments, namely a modified Yamaha disklavier, 2nd gen and a couple of midi controlled solenoid based drum mechanisms I made just after I got the Disklavier.

I kept seeing them [disklaviers] in hotels, usually used to pipe muzak around the place and thought why doesn't anyone actually use one of these to compose music on and make beats etc! 
A couple of times when i saw them in hotel lobbies, i sneaked up to the disklavier and set it to play ultra low pitch and very slow, funny watching peoples reactions, it was down every corridor etc
NOBODY i spoke to back in around 1999 inc. people at yamaha knew how to connect one of these to a computer and I had to take my computer into Yamaha to try it out to see how fast these things could go, no info on the net then either.
The first year I burned out countless solenoids in the thing and learnt how to repair them myself, the more recent gen ones like I used at the barbican have temperature cut outs on them thankfully, i’ve still fried a few though!

1 year after his gorgeous "Straight ahead" Ep, Tony Lionni gets back on Goldmin Music with a softer and deeper one "A photograph of you".
A very distinctive and insightful ep about the passing of time including plainly heartbreaking house tracks as he did so well up to now.
We've been amazed by Tony's music since the beginning as whatever he does, there's always a promise of something unexpected and a high dreaming potential..
That's what it's all about. House music for the 21st century, more conscious and lucid than ever with a hunk of optimism and faith in what the future can bring.

This musical tale starts with the unmistakable "Remember back when".. As it's name suggests, it might be an ideal flashback track, bringing back a warm and stained 90's vibe.
However, Tony is the master of evoking both the familiar and exploring the unknown, feeding your sense nostalgia while simultaneously inspiring visions of a hopeful future
As always, it's a perfect balance between dreamscape and reality as that irresistible groove deserves a very physical reaction, the urge to dance while it slowly brings out your inner-child.

"There's no future in the past" continues in a more ear-catching way thanks to his perfect straightforward arpeggio constantly pushing you combined with a round, dry and heavy bass quickly elevating the track to it's cruise altitude. The perfect example of a contemporary different dancefloor tune. 

"Together" brings your imagination back on track. Probably more abstract and hypnotic nonetheless it's power will be all the stronger.  It feels like a wonderful 6 minutes playground experience, high in the sky, a representational, half-conscious musical trip that makes your mind wonder.

This EP should give you an insight into one of the freshest producers out there at the moment, the German @lukasendhardt. He grew up among the most diverse kinds of big and small percussion instruments since his father is a Latin jazz percussionist. He always have felt connected to rhythms from cultures that are not his own. In one way or another, it has led a life deep in several rhythms. 
His catalogue includes much-loved work; most obvious thing you will hear is the focus on Brazilian rhythms. Lately Lukas had been very fascinated by the religions based on Yoruba traditions, especially Brazilian Candomblé. By the looks of it, we can understand how Babalaô EP was born. In Yoruba culture Babalaô (Babalawo) is the priest dedicated to the worship of Orunmila-Ifá, epiphany of divination. 
In that light, Lukas has created a work peppered with catchy tunes to provide us a cultural extrapolation. Therefore, this is not just about synthesis between two musical cultures but also between relaxing chill out music and highly energetic themes. All highlighted by his own hallucinogenic filter.
His mother, Burga Endhardt, painted the art that draws the cover. We can notice some similarities between EP & artwork: widely warming, organic taste, kind of surrealness too. It includes different layers, natural forms and shapes. We think that is a picture-perfect match.
Since it is deep, dubby, laid-back but always driving, the four tracks are geared for the dance floor. Nevertheless, certain elements reveal a hidden fringe where Lukas are serving contemplative realness. Besides the three original tracks by Lukas, we also have a penetrating perspective channeled in @arutani’s remix, delivered as a striking extra for the listener.
In short, the EP is a useful indicator for where Lukas is at right now stylistically and reflects as a direct correlation with our motto: slow is the new fast and awesome too

Premiere: Grad U - Geomagnetic Storm

Goldmin founder Romain Lanteaume aka EinKa meets Terrence Dixon for a 2nd record which is nothing but a logical suite to the one released last year.

Terrence Dixon is perhaps the only man in techno to have achieved the perfect fusion of the finished work with a concept theoretically formulated beforehand, There's not many artists being as consistent as he is in this respect. He is also one of the very few artists who dedicated his whole life to a very personal and constantly evolving ideal and of course, you can feel that lifelong research in every single tracks he recorded.. His guiding principle was the elimination of what is known as expressiveness: from the very first ones in 1995 to what he's doing now - completely unique and timeless. Whatever he does, this man knows how far he can go "too far"!

When you listen to any track of this man that his very own artistic ideal is not driven by the desire to please anyone nor make people dance. His music is not even determined by a certain aesthetic or by it's function in the club. This man's never trying to bring a certain emotion out of you by exciting some brains with already known, he just let things happen, lets subconscious talk with no limits and that's probably why Terrence's music is so touching..
Listening to this incredibly unique "halftime" on B-side, we (and hopefully you) can hear what we're talking about.. He breaks the barriers of time and space.

Following The Edge concept, both artists delivered 1 solo track each and once again, Romain sent some carefully selected music parts to Terrence to work with in order to make 2 brand new tracks / remixes out of them which could illustrate that VOID idea. Once again, these as well as the solo works bring a very spontaneous and delicate record.

The mysterious Leipzig based duo JAJA released one of favourite albums of 2016 (Tropical Bird Club) on ynfnd (you need friends not discs) and we have been waiting to release something from them on Shika Shika ever since! 

For this Botanas, JAJA serve us up two humid, organic tracks seeped in dark green vegetation and marked by screeching birds from the canopy and mysterious voices from the forest floor. One for the deep groove.

Far off in the brush of the West Africa there lives a tribe of people that have stirred up a lot of interest in their mythology. The Dogon, from Mali, have some interesting beliefs, elaborate rituals and myths. They believe that they are descended from ancient Egyptians and their story goes back further than 50,000 years. Their stories contain actual facts about the solar system and ancient history. The Dogon tribe believes that the starting point of creation is a star that revolves around Sirius and is known as the 'Digitaria star'. Their understanding is that this star is small, but heavy, and contains the building elements of creation. So, here are some building elements of their music creation. This is our new compilation and is called THE DOGON ORCHESTRA, full of positive vibes and awesome music. This is our world and you're welcome to it.......

La Voz de la Nostalgia ft. Wabi Sabi

yo yo yo, just got my hr16 fixed and hooked it up to the midi grid over here. Works pretty well, but the buttons are fucked, so that's irritating. Wanted to do something kinda vapory using the tape technique I've been doing, got some good results. The reverb comes from a Midiverb 2 I just got the other day, and then gets slammed by a dbx166 compressor.

We're arrived to the tenth chapter of Greyscale story. It's definitely a milestone for us. For this special occasion label boss grad_u is back with "UMWELT", his first full length album since “Endless Space” that was released back in 2012. 
The umwelt theory states that the mind and the world are inseparable, because it is the mind that interprets the world. So in this ten-track album artist is focusing on the world around him, believing that the environment he's in subconsciously translates into his works. This time grad_u takes it even further - some of the tracks are incorporating the actual field recordings from his usual environment, while the others reshaping the feelings felt in the surroundings into the lush sonic passages.
