Luke Hess arrives on Rekids Special Projects with ‘Detroit Visions’.

With original releases and remix material on labels such as Omar S’ FXHE Records, Carl Craig’s Planet-E, Motech, Echocord, and his own DeepLabs imprint, Luke Hess is no stranger to expanding the boundaries of electronic music. Preparing his first full release on Rekids Special Projects this June, the Detroit born and raised DJ/producer drops four inventive techno cuts for Radio Slave’s imprint.

Across the release, Hess plays with classic dub techno sensibilities, distilling his years of experience into a set of highly playable, evolving club tracks. From the interplaying chords and pads on opener ‘Two Prophets’ to the dense acid lines on ‘Polymoon’, Hess’ mastery of the genre is on full display across ‘Detroit Visions’.

"I've been a fan of Matt's music and the label in general for ages and have played so many tracks from the catalogue in my DJ sets over the years. When Matt asked me for music, I was over the moon, and I still haven't quite come down yet. This EP is inspired by my mid-90s warehouse party days & the feeling I still get while driving around in Detroit. Oculus is one of the titans of the Icelandic techno scene and has been one of its key foundations for over a decade. His live shows have captivated the audience with his exemplarary mixture of deep, innovative and hypnotic techno. His productions skills are unquestionable and we‘re excited to bring you four techno anthems ready to conquer the late night dancefloors.    

Nostalgia is a nod to the older days. Subtle blend of hypnotic mysticism and Detroit-style techno – a instant afterhours anthem! Rydgad is a handy tool for the DJs who love to throw a little swag to their crowd. Its minimal, but still offers a lot of little tricks to make the room work. Morph gets dark and twisted - with Oculus‘s hypnotic voice reassuring the listener in his native tongue that the he is the all-seeing eye of the Icelandic techno scene. The EP ends with the minimalistic mind-twister of „Flod“ – completing the first odyssey of Æ Recordings LTD.

Managed and curated by Andy Green an old head, dancer, clubber, collector for 30 years. The label  now firmly established with a back-cat of respected 12’s and a compilation. The ambition of the vinyl releases is to release honest and interesting music across the spectrum of deep with no regard for trend or fashion : good music being ageless. This latest release is the 2nd of 2019 following on from the Receptor Theory EP which sold out rapidly. Joe Lucas creates music under a few monikers, most often as Causa and notably has appeared on Tusk Wax, Boogie Box and Birdie. The Causa sound elegantly touches on deep house grooves and melodic techno but with a fluid, contemporary style and is an obvious choice for the Verdant family. The Locks EP is released as Sixtyone leaning towards Detroit flavours with intricate percussion layered with warm soulful keys. Previous releases have attracted high profile remixes from Kuniyuki, Luv Jam and Young Marco and that trend continues on the Locks. On the flip, Stojche is back from his contribution to the Verdant double LP to slam a burly, peak time reshape of Zelo upping the Detroit vibes. Hiver's melodic, acid tinged releases have been a regular fixture on Andy’s own mixes so its big honour to have them join the Verdant team here. Their reshape of the delicate Tregnanton, adds a firm kick, swinging bassline and heady 303 sparkle wth dazzling effectiveness.
