Bio:

Born and grew up in a countryside near Vilnius, Lithuania. Started DJing in early ’97, at the age of 13. Been focusing on the wide spectrum of sounds: house, techno, drum’n’bass and jungle.  Around ’99 he made his first attempts in creating own tracks and soon started to add them into his dj sets. In early 2005 the start of the GRAD_U  project took place, focusing on deep side of techno. During the years he released tracks and remixes on various labels and in 2012 he launched two own imprints: Redscale and Greyscale.

As 2016 draws to a close it is with great honour and pleasure that we present our final podcast for the year from the one and only Kenneth Christiansen. 

The term "legend" is not thrown around lightly here at PC HQ and we consider this man one of them. Kenneth has been an inspiration to us and many around the world with his pioneering sound both as an individual artist and as part of Pattern Repeat as well as his influential label "Echocord and Echocord Colour". 

Kenneth has brought many artists to the scene and exposed them to the wider techno community including the likes of Mikkel Metal, Deadbeat, Fluxion, Brendon Moller, Luke Hess, STL, Resoe and Quantec. A true pioneer in the dub techno scene following from the likes of Basic Channel and Maurizio.

Kenneth has played at some of the most infamous clubs including Fabris, Tresor, Berghain and Panaorama Bar not to mention festivals such as Sonar, Dimension and ADE.

Kenneth Christiansen has long been the guardian of dub techno’s second wave. The Dane & likeminded friends also built their very own techno temple in the form of Copenhagen’s intimate Culture Box. Revered all around the world for its focus on quality music and local resident talent, it remains the only place to hear such deep sounds in the city of Denmark.

More than a decade after starting his label there have been almost 100 EPs and LPs that have constantly updated and revisited the techno and dub template and have very much contributed to the careers of those that release on it.  

As a DJ, Kenneth has been spinning ever since the beginning of the 90’s, immediately picking up gigs all around Europe because of his unique style and tightly honed sonic vision. Few people manage to remain credible and engaged with the underground over such a long period of time, but thanks to his devotion to his city, sounds and the scene, this man has managed it with ease and is here to stay. 

We are sure you will enjoy this hour long mix exclusively done for us here at Primary Colours. 

This mix was recorded live at Culture Box playing Vinyl only as Kenneth only does. The mix gives a great insight to the city of Denmark and the vibe Kenneth creates at Culture Box whether it be a warm up set or an early morning closer.

DJ and producer Bjarnar Jonsson aka Ohm (@ohm-599575574) is one of the leading figures in the Icelandic contemporary techno scene. Widely associated with iconic labels such as @thule-records, @achim-szepanski, @rawax-chiwax-housewax, @luckofaccess , @tapedartifact, @kontacthelsinki and @allinnrecords !

Ohm stays true to his roots by consistently innovating his interpretation of techno music, intergrating soul and innovation with the scene. 

The #Copenhagen - based artist was born and raised in #Reykjavik, #Iceland, and caught the music bug early on. In 1999 his debut release, a collaboration with the Icelandic techno legend @exos, was released on Force Inc and was critically acclaimed. Since then he has been a constant source of techno anthems – most recently releasing his works on Thule Records, Rawax,Taped artifact, AE records, @xozmusic, @solid-groove-records and Kontakt records – and working with veterans such as @octalindustries and his long time collaborator @exos, and now recently with @kvadrant, label boss of Kontakt records and host of the legendary Tweak fm shows. He has been a regular guest at the legendary techno club Culture Box in Copenhagen – alongside frequently performing in his native country. 

Because of Ohm’s unique style, it’s hard to label his music but you can definitely hear influences from Detroit tunes, dub and of course classic minimal techno. He tries hard not to be limited to any specific formulas and manages in that way to successfully create his own distinctive sound. Constantly evolving his production skills and questioning the things around him. Ohm seeks to inspire his listeners with sounds both reduced and rough, balanced by emotional and surprising moments throughout his sets. Between pure techno, banging dub techno tracks, tracks old and new, Ohm communicates his message with an apparent effortlessness.
