This Memorial Day Weekend May 24-27 Elements Lakewood Music & Arts Festival returns to its namesake small town in Northeastern Pennsylvania for another bout of fun in the summer sun. The Rust Music is hosting a mini-mix series to highlight some of the stalwart underground talent taking the stage that weekend, and the latest installment comes from McWavy. This producer and multi-instrumentalist from Maryland provides a perfect soundtrack for daydreaming on a breezy summer afternoon. Her mix is loose, fun and stylistically diverse, just like Elements Lakewood. 

Although she travels in the bass music universe, McWavy sounds more at home in the broad realm of future jazz and new R&B. On this mix, she blends downtempo electronica with lo-fi hip-hop and jazz, adds some twisty reggae, and laces the entire work with positive vocal vibrations - and it's virtually all unreleased. The producer showcases her signature saxophone skills throughout, although it’s her chops on the keys (and the keytar when she performs live) that impresses most. Every melody rises and falls with grace, communicates fluently, and encourages joy from the listener. At Elements Lakewood, which truly offers something for all comers, McWavy’s experimental act - featured as part of The Gradient Perspective’s Theatre Stage takeover - is not to be missed.
