An impromptu keyboard realization of Exercise 1.2.c from Job IJzerman's "Harmony, Counterpoint, Partimento" – a new book that rehabilitates the old method (partimento) of teaching the fundaments of European classical music (harmony & counterpoint).

The goal of such instruction (a student's technical and idiomatic proficiency) is the ability to extemporize right-hand figurations over a given bass in the vein of such arcane practices as continuo and fugue. Take it from me, this method works: for a mediocre keyboardist such as myself to be able to improvise such a coherent phrase so fluently without premeditation ... that's SOMETHING! 😄

In this oral history, George Morrison, Denver's Godfather of Jazz, talks about music, Mahalia Jackson, Maxine Kohl, Andrew Kirk, Nat King Cole, Boulder, Mattie Silks, Paul Whiteman, and more. Morrison was born in Fayette, Missouri on September 9, 1891 and was a longtime resident of Colorado.

This item was cataloged and digitized as part of the Mazzulla Collection Access and Digitization Project.  In 2022, History Colorado was awarded a 3-year grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) to fund work on the Fred M. Mazzulla Collection. The grant funds were used to catalog, arrange, describe, publicize, and digitize 50,000 items within the Mazzulla Collection, including photograph prints and negatives, manuscript material, scrapbooks, and audio recordings.
