This is a drone type sound, with a riser element in a Horror/Sci Fi style. The sound is free to download and use as how you see fit in any project commercial or private etc. 

I was bored and so decided to make a drone. Thought I'd share it with you all.

Spectral Vibrations: Gun Mechanics - UK Police Issue

This is the very first sound library from Spectral Vibrations, all recorded, edited and mastered by Graham Donnelly.

The library contains 254 sounds of various gun mechanics and their movements. All weapons included are standard UK Police issue. Note: All firearms used by UK Police forces are locked off to Semi Automatic due to our laws governing firearms.
Each sound has been meticulously edited individually, allowing very little HDD space to be used up. (Final Zip File is a mere 72mb)

All files were recorded and are delivered in 24bit 48kHz Broadcast Wave files, all embedded with Sound Miner Metadata for easy import and navigation when searching for the files.

All sounds were recorded on location in the south of the UK, in an indoor firing range (Some Reverb tails can be heard but are very slight), under supervision from an armed Police Unit.

Sounds were recorded directly into Pro Tools through a Pre Sonus DigiMax Pre amp and captured through a Sontronics STC-2 Microphone.

The files are extremely short, as the actions are quick. This library aims to speak to Video game sound folks, as each action has various different performances captured, which allows for slight variations between the sounds and yet maintains a similarity.

Wind Up Toy Trinket Box - Creepy Sound Effect

So, As I am currently designing and building my paint set for my next film. I have decided to give this sound away.

I recently worked on a film, where I needed a lot of low rumble, drone, eerie sounds, to enhance the anger and pain of the main protagonist. I managed to achieve this by using certain cars and heavy vehicles, heavily processed with a recording of a vending machine that I did.

The film I am currently planning for will probably require a fair amount of droney type audio too. So I have knocked up this 5 minute sound effect, that was built from a vending machine and a car engine. Processed to the extreme with various analogue distortions and pitching yadda yadda yadda.

So it's free, in case any of you are stuck for this type of audio.

Used Little Alter Boy for a delay and pitch effect, Standard pro tools short delay, MondoMod for some vocoder action. Then doppler. I included the raw sound at the end for comparison. Free to download and use as you see fit.

Crunchy Debris TicTacs Fall In Big Tub

Ok so last week I visited my family in the south of England, Bournemouth in Dorset and I took along my Zoom to capture any interesting sounds that I could.

So this week's free sound effect is of our Dog Basil.

He's a king Charles Cavalier and is about 14 years old, and he only has one tooth, bless him. I missed his feeding times every day and so one evening I gave him a chew to eat and decided to record him as his eating sounds are quite unique.

So this is the sound of him, gumming away at his chew.

So, here is a free sound effect - It is kinda creature vocal, drone type, horror sting sound.

To be honest it is one of the first play arounds that I did with Izotope Iris.

So this is just an excuse to post it really. I like the sound, it reminded my a bit of predator so hence the name.

Alien Vocal - Predator type - drone - creature

Ok so nothing too exciting this week, but could be useful for many things.

I recorded the ambience of the machine room from our SSL G+4040 console. The picture is not it by the way.

I forgot to take a photo! 

This is a 3 minute, pretty straight up sound that doesn't really change.

We have server rooms in other areas of our building and they all sound very unique and yet similar in a strange way. So, if I can I will grab a photo, so you get a better idea of the equipment and space that was recorded.

This sound effect was recorded using Shure KSM141's in an XY pattern.

Machine Room - Server Room Ambience

This free sound effect is from a collection of old recordings from New York City in 2006/2007.

I was on a college trip to NYC and took my Zoom H2 along just in case.

This is probably the first location recording session that I ever did, and this was at a point in time in which sound recording and film sound was really new to me, so the recording is not of the cleanest nature. Although it is strong and very useable.

Apologies for the sharp intro to the track, I had to do some editing due to classmates talking in the background and then making noise throughout the recording. This is the best that I could achieve with the source material.

As I have had a crazy week, I was unable to get out and record a new sound, and so chose this one from my archives.

It's a 24 bit 48kHz sample. 

So I hope you enjoy it and find some use for it.

New York - NYC - Street Siren - Ambience

This is a mini Library of Male burping sounds.

The story behind this mini Library is this:

I get annoyed at the standard/comical fart and burp sounds that are used, and nine times out of ten, they are the same ones.

So I decided to start putting together a realistic, human gas library. This is only the beginning!

I work shifts, so my hours vary. I work a night shift rotation once a month, and struggle sleeping during the day, so I tend to grab a couple of beers before going to sleep. This particular week in question - I decided to record my Burps, as I can be very windy when drinking beer :)

So this mini library is a compilation of a couple of days burping after my night shifts.

Listening back to the recordings was quite horrific and had me giggling and cringing at the same time.

There are parts in this library that would be very effective for creature vocals.

Male Burping / Creature - mini Library

Second test recording from my first use of the Marantz PMD661 unit with Rode NT5 microphones.

So this was a random test, as you can tell by the picture, I did not have a mic stand handy, so made a makeshift one. Not Ideal, but worked enough to give me an idea of the equipment.

So the microphone placement, was not measured or placed optimally for the ideal stereo image etc. I just lay them down, set levels and left it to it.

The recording has NOT been processed using any plug ins, it was simply cut and faded at the start and end. So what you hear here, is nothing but the PMD unit's pre amps and the Rode NT5 stereo pair.

The NT5's were fed phantom from the unit.

I had to convert from 96kHz to 48kHz, thanks to Mbox2.

So the sounds were recorded on the PMD at 96kHz 24bit, but this upload is at 48kHz 24bit. 

So as you hear, the recording is fairly clean and useable. The pre's are not as noisy as I initially feared on the unit, and they work really well with the NT5's, which is good, because this will be my main recording rig from now on.

Marantz PMD661 and Rode NT5 test recording - London Ambience

Ok - so this sound is a standard blue bottle house fly. 

I was around the house recording, trying to capture some good water sounds and this fly was all over the recordings, so I gave up and pointed the shotgun mic at him. 

The sound is comprised of short bursts of fly movement as I was poking him with the blimp, he was on the window, so I kept disturbing him. Unfortunately I was unable to capture a clean fly away sound. So the one included is the best I could do.

Recorded using the Marantz PMD661 - Rode NTG3 mic. 

24bit 96kHz mono file - so should be able to get crazy with the pitching etc.

Fly - buzzing

OK everyone - This is our wee pooch Basil again.

This time I managed to capture him drinking. Luckily I was right there when he decided he was thirsty!

So he's an older pooch, with no teeth and so has quite a sloppy sound when eating and drinking, if you can recall the older sound of him chewing?

File is 24bit 96kHz and a MONO file. Great for processing.

Dog drinking

So today we have some weapon handling sounds for you to enjoy.

Now as much as I would have liked to have had a real Colt m1911a1 to play with and record, the UK have very strict policies on guns ha ha. So I recorded my airsoft version, which is a full replica and therefore is going to be extremely close in terms of sound.

The replica is a gas powered gun, full metal. The model is a WA M1911a1.

The sounds contained are mainly the handling sounds, the cocking, dry firing, mag insert and eject, but I have also included the sound of the pistol firing too and here's why:

-The sound that the gun  makes when fired is unique in it's own right.
- My dissertation at University was based around weapon sounds, and I discovered that in order for a gun to sound unique and have character, you have to create decent mechanical sounds (the sounds of the weapon moving) and blend these with the explosive elements and sound.
- It is great for designing surpressed weapons
- Can be used for many other applications 

So I recorded the gun using the Marantz PMD661 and a Rode NTG3 - sounds are 24bit 96kHz.

This is kind of a mini library again, as I wanted to give you all as many sounds as possible from this recording. So this is why I have uploaded as one file. I will comment on the file so you know which sections are which. If requested, I can create small files and separate all the elements and add a library of them. (But we'll see for now).

Pistol Foley - Mechanical sounds - Colt M1911a1 - Gun sounds

Hey everybody.

So as some of you may know - I recently moved home from Hackney to Wood Green. Now one of the "Perks" or "Pitfalls" of the new place is having a nice a lively pub next door, quite literally right next door.

It can get loud over the weekends and on weds (disco night) but I am located slightly above and to the left of the Smoking area, with balcony and windows near.

So I got in last night (slightly merry, I may add from a friends gig) and stood on the balcony having a good old evesdrop of people's drunken banter.

Then I decided that I would record some, to see if I could get anything useable - So I recorded about 25 mins, changed the placement of the mic and recorded some more. I then got sleepy and simply left the recorder going and it continued to record for the full amount of space on the memory card, another 45mins approx.

So I loaded the recordings into pro tools and edited them down to a 3 minute useable sound effect.

Now a few points about this one - First off, the recording was Mono, due to my lack of stereo bar or 2 mic stands. So this STEREO file is comprised of 2 MONO sources. I hard panned left and right, so you can separate as desired.

The reason, that I merged two tracks, was to try and reduce specific words or phrases, as some of it is very clear. 

I also did it to disguise some of the edits, the pub is sat on a busy road and there are cars that pass every now and again, and I have edited them out, to the best that I can, but I am sure one or two may have past me by there.

So basically this STEREO file is a combination of 2 MONO recordings done last night at different angles. You can split them in Post by dragging the file into 2 mono tracks etc etc.

Pub Ambience - London - People - Crowds - Warble

I love sound. I love to record sounds and I love to create sounds. Sound design and audio for film and video game is my passion and driving force for all the sounds you will hear on here.

This year I made a new years resolution to record and release a sound effect every week for the entire year. These sound effects will be posted here for you to download and enjoy in any commercial project, royalty free. I do own the copyright for these sound effects and therefore this means that you are not allowed to put these on your website for the sole purpose of download or sale. So please bare that in mind.

There is no theme to these sounds, I wanted to keep it random, this in turn has led to me recording sounds that I would not have usually considered. So expect...... anything.
