Back in 2013 or something....

A now totally dead online music mag called, "In Your Speakers" featured a profile on Moon & Pollution because we were a new band with a fresh new sound and a certain zest about us. 
Part of the tradition at inyourspeakers.com was asking artists to create a mixtape to accompany their profile on the blog. I said, 'yeah. I'll do it today, right now'. Henceforth, these songs and remixes were on the internet scene in Minnesota.

But what's the theme - just animal sounds and whatever? Yes. Plus, all of the remixes are re-imaginings of works from other Twin Cities artists. Except Sadistik and the Magnetic Fields. 
These are some of the people who inspired our creation of The Box Borealis. Plus, I should point out that not all of these are remixes, maybe half are.

1. Sun Gods to Gamma Rays - Burn Me Through (Remixed by Graham O'Brien)
SGGR is a great band, like-minded in their downtempo inclinations. This remix is part of their EP called The Water The Wave. Check it outhere:

2. Book Of Love - Magnetic Fields (Remixed by Graham O'Brien + James Diers)
James Diers and I teamed up to cover this classic, for a gigantic project undertaken by Minneapolis musician Matt Latterell to put together 69 bands to cover all 69 songs on the Magnetic Fields 69 Love Songs record. Robert Mulrennan on guitar. Casey O'Brien on bass.

3. Aby Wolf + Grant Cutler - Permission - (Remixed by Graham O'Brien)
From their record "Wolf Lords". Aby & Grant are an amazing singer/producer team. They're good. They don't mess around. Check them out.

4. No Bird Sing - Naked Ape (Prod. Graham O'Brien)
This is an unreleased No Bird Sing track. It didn't make the cut on our last record (Definition Sickness, released on Strange Famous) for various reasons, but it's one of my personal favorites. No Bird Sing is Joe Horton, Robert Mulrennan, and myself.

5. Moon & Pollution - Melted Man (unreleased) (Prod. Graham O'Brien)
Another case of an unreleased song! Why didn't we put this on the record? It's a long story, and again this is one of my favorites songs of ours. We do play it live though. Technically our fastest song.

6. Sadistik - Kill the King (Remixed by Graham O'Brien)
Sadistik is an amazing writer and rapper. Psychedelic sadness.

7. Proofreader - My Mouth & Teeth (Prod. Graham O'Brien)
This is a project with my homies Adam Svec(singer) and Casey O'Brien (bassist / producer) (also my brother, is the latter). Nathan Hanson on sax.

8. Halloween, Alaska - Knights of Columbus (Prod. Graham O'Brien & No Bird Sing)
We jumped at the chance to remix some Haloween, Alaska. Check out Dave King's Irrational Funk, by the way. I stayed up really late watching it last night. Joe Horton on vocals, Robert Mulrennan on Guitar.

9. Matt Leavitt + Graham O'Brien - Meaning Fleeting (Prod. Graham O'Brien)
This is a new project, still in the works. Matt Leavitt is a gem, extremely creative and unique. He leads a band called Emot. Dan Choma on bass.

10. Sadistik & Kristoff Krane - Bad Timing (Prod. Graham O'Brien)
Two of my favorite vocalists. Kristoff and I go back to the Abzorbr days. This song is from the album Prey for Paralysis.

11. F I X - Flash Flood (Prod. Anatomy & Graham O'Brien)
F I X is the Minneapolis-based collective of boundary pushing hip-hop artists Kill the Vultures, No Bird Sing, and Kristoff Krane. www.ftoitox.com

12. Graham O'Brien - CFCs Feat. Alicia Wiley & Joe Horton (Prod. Graham O'Brien)
This is the song that led indirectly to the creation of Moon & Pollution. Molly and I wanted to make a record that continued where this song left off.

I was honored to do this remix for Guante, and I think we captured something fiery here.
