Sorin Simon has always been attracted to music. It all started in his childhood home of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where he took piano lessons while still in school. His passion for music only grew as the years went by and as he started to go to different festivals, Sorin decided it was time for him to become a DJ. 

So, in 2006, he got himself some musical equipment and started learning the tricks all by himself, taking inspiration from a:rpia:r crew at that time. 
That same year, he started playing music at some private parties for friends and small crowds. Slowly, he was learning the craft and by the time he moved to Jersey, in the Channel Islands in the UK, he was ready for the big stuff. Soon enough, he was a resident at one of the top clubs in the city. 

Time went by and in 2017 Sorin moved definitively to London where he started playing different underground events all around London. A year later, he signed to Vivus Records, an underground/independent and vinyl-only label from South Germany. Sorin has played at multiple festivals both in Romania and abroad such as Monegros Desert Festival, Sonar Off in Spain, Back To The Wild, and Electric Castle in Romania. 

As a producer, Sorin Simon’s dark and trippy soundscapes are reminiscent of the Romanian underground scene and his first track, O dimineață târzie, remains an unreleased jam, that has nonetheless over 150k views on YouTube. Since then, he released two EPs – Ecouri Paralele at Other Thoughts Records and the track Fragmente on the VA03 released by Vivus Records. 

Sharing the decks with some well-known Dj’s like Janeret, Crihan, Cap, Mihigh, RQZ, Cosmjn, Illan Nicciani, Triptil, Bryz, Bexu, Little Hado, Prajescu, Maher Daniel just to name few of them. 

Sorin aims to give the public the same lovely feeling he has when he encounters quality music and his mesmerizing and deep-dark minimal microhouse does just that. His goal was never to be a people pleaser, but to please the right people.

Convidamos mais um artista Romeno para compor nosso acervo que hoje completa 76 edições! Sorin Simon sempre esteve rodeado por música e foi na sua infância que teve seu primeiro contato com piano, ainda na escola. A paixão só cresceu com o passar dos anos. Mas foi nos diferentes festivais que Sorin decidiu que era hora de se tornar um Dj.

Então, em 2006, iniciou na discotecagem inspirado pela equipe a:rpia:r da época, e aos poucos, foi aprendendo o ofício, mudando-se para Jersey, na Ilhas do Canal no Reino Unido, excercendo sua arte em diversos clubes da cidade. 

Já em Londres, assinou com a gravadora Vinyl Only do sul da Alemanha chamada Vivus Records e assim, fechou contratos em inúmeros festivais na Romênia e no exterior, como por exemplo Monegros Desert Festival, Sonar Off na Espanha, Back To The Wild and Electric Castle Na Roménia. 

Desde então, ele lançou dois EPs – Ecouri Paralele na Other Thoughts Records e a faixa Fragmente no VA03 lançado pela Vivus Records.

As 2022 comes to an end we would like to thank our community for the support we have received this year. Our platform has grown a lot organically recently and it's great to see that our effort to create a community of like minded people who cherish creativity and talented artists has been received so well by all of you.

As it's been a while since our last podcast, we would like to thank Vern for accepting our invitation and joining us on the 14th Podcast with a special set to get you through the last days of 2022 and into the start of 2023.

The set takes you flawlessly through minimal flavours, proper energy grooves and some old school tracks, showing the artist's wide range of sounds.

Our second guest is Sorin Simon. Born and raised in Transylvania, Romania, he has a lot of passion for music.

Beginning in 2006, he decided to create his own music along with buying a pair of Technics turntables to learn how to dj. In the following year, he moved to Jersey, Channel Islands where he had the chance after a few weeks to have residency in one of the islands top clubs.

Having performed around Europe at numerous festivals (Off Sonar, Monegros, Electric Castle, Reasons) he has become a talented guy.

He has said “I think to make people happy and giving them those goosebumps when you’re playing no matter is 2000 or 50 people in the venue is the best feeling like a dj.”

His lastest EP released on Other Thoughts Records is called “Ecouri Paralele EP”, with a remix from Ptrovici and Sebastian Eric.

In the last year he has established his headquarters in London as well as started a label called Unknown Tales based Transylvania, Romania.
