A song inspired by an experience I had working on a building site as a brickies labourer, a group of guys came across from Adelaide to work on this particular site and took advantage of another labourer that I was working with and after a few weeks things started to get really dark and disturbed when one day they decided they were going to kill this guy and loaded several bags of lime in their car in preparation to carry out this shocking deed, one of the guys claimed he was associated with a notorious biker gang called the gypsy jokers hence the title of the song.

In a world like this where the fundamentals of creation and the origin of life still remain beyond the scope of rational comprehension, this album will take you on a metaphysical journey into the primordial chaos of the building blocks of the Universe. It is based on the concept of the Four Elements - Earth, Water, Wind, Fire, plus the Fifth Element, Quintessence, which here represents the abiogenesis, and organic life itself.

Each track is here named after a specific Element and the titles are in Old Greek with Latin transcription. A rich texture of field recordings play carefully against strange instruments and haunting voices against a massive wall of drone.

The last song on the album continues with the theme of grinding angst and frustration. Bundled up with a simple two note riff and primal rhythm gloom's simplistic structure and melody add to it's overall hypnotic trance like sound. The chorus cuts in like a roundhouse kick to the groin on a cold night. With an unapologetic and overall sarcastic vocal delivery to finish off this unique album.

Lucinda Williams' 1979 debut 'Ramblin' on My Mind' returns to vinyl on May 7th, 2021.

American singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams’ Southern blues roots are unmistakable on her debut record Ramblin’ on My Mind, showcasing the artistry that would make her an icon. Recorded in Mississippi in the late 1970s, the album features a collection of traditional folk and country standards arranged and performed by Williams, with intimate accompaniment by John Grimaudo on his six-string guitar. Her raw and drawly voice is as curvy and natural as a back road as she wistfully explores the familiar melodies of Robert Johnson, Hank Williams, and the Memphis Jug Band, among others.

The vinyl reissue of Ramblin’ on My Mind, which includes a liner notes booklet with the song lyrics, housed in an original Folkways-style tip-on jacket, is part of the Smithsonian Folkways Vinyl Reissue Series, revisiting some of the most iconic and influential albums in our collection.
