Recorded as a simple acoustic guitar and voice recording in my backyard with some street noise.  A cover version of Steve Miller's amazing "Fly Like An Eagle".

Fly Like An Eagle

With the tragic wildfires in Los Angeles, I decided to write a song about it and the results of climate change.  It was written on ukulele and then tracks were added.

The city wakes in a choking haze,
Mountains burn in a fiery blaze.
The dry winds howl through the canyon’s bones,
Turning lives to ash, leaving hearts alone.

The skies are painted an angry red,
Dreams dissolve where the flames have spread.
Smoke hangs heavy, the earth’s despair,
The price we pay for poisoned air.

Ashes in the air, sorrow in the skies,
The winds are raging, a planet cries.
Destruction rolls on the breath of change,
A world in ruins, fierce and strange.

Once green valleys now blackened scars,
The night glows bright with the light of stars.
But these stars aren’t distant, they burn too near,
A warning shouted for all to hear.

Homes are crumbled, the forests weep,
A restless fury that will not sleep.
We fed the fire with careless hands,
Now we’re watching the fall of lands.

Ashes in the air, sorrow in the skies,
The winds are raging, a planet cries.
Destruction rolls on the breath of change,
A world in ruins, fierce and strange.

The earth remembers, the fault is clear,
Centuries of greed brought us here.
Can we rewrite this burning page,
Or be swept away in nature’s rage?

The flames don’t lie, they tell the truth,
A message written in stolen youth.
The oceans rise, the deserts spread,
The balance broken, the future bled.

But in the embers, hope still glows,
In every heart that fights and knows:
It’s not too late to shift the tide,
To heal the wounds and turn the ride.
