In many styles of traditional music such as Bluegrass, folk, and in styles such as Rockabilly and Big Band and Bebop jazz, the bass role is filled by the upright bass.

Phoenix Records is a "micro" Indie Record Label.   Originally, it was Rapidan Records. In this new reincarnation, it is focusing on fusing multiple genres and time periods together in songs.

We are a small boutique record label specializing in discovering and training vocalists. Bruce Malcolm Gras founded the company in 2013. He holds an MBA and a JD from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Orchestral Conducting and Composition. He composes almost all the music the label's signed artists, and does most of the songwriting too so far. He is also a professional session musician on the Blues Harp (aka Diatonic Harmonica) performing in recording sessions in Nashville, Los Angeles, New York, Austin, Chicago, and Atlanta for a number of groups including the Eagles, the Doobie Brothers, and well known artists such as Don Henley, K.D. Land, and Bonnie Raitt.
