Hashman Deejay returns to Future Times for a sophomore effort, this time in the form of a special-dj-double-pack, "Sandopolis"!!!

We last heard from this dude on his “Tangerine” single for FT; now he’s grown for us a mini-city, six cuts of dense nite/club work straight from the jungles of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, all saturated in the same state of mind high above eye level.

Hashman visits us from the Mood Hut multiverse (home of Aquarian Foundation, Jack J, Pender Street Steppers, Kinetic Electronix, and more), and "Sandopolis" carries forth the luminous, pressurized house vibes that have put the Canadian crew on the map this year. We all saw the Libra constellation a little brighter in 2014; the gang went hard! There's an inherent Hut lushness to the proceedings, but all the ambience, slathered crackle, and treats for the Tripper-Dancer In U come together when combined with the Hashman's dizzy drum machine punch. 

"Xssential-3" starts the collection off in exactly that zone, techno-ambient-dance banging in serene mode. "Statues PF" comes through right on time with the slow world breather. Flip that, and get hit with the zero-swing disco imitation warp of  "Sandfish," a marvelous beast for the DJ crew, and "Mercury," a back and forth house junkyard with mad elevated pads and a bugged sense of fidelity. The second disk comes thru with two elegant epics, the ultra-euphoric fast stepper "Mozaic" and the dopest closer, "184," a psychic, street style house roller complete with dub wisdom and Hashman EFX to the fullest. 

Make no mistake, this is megabliss DJ perfection! This is six tracks of that sweet spot dance, in the tradition of Virgo 4, Stickman Records, or the classic Italian acronym house labels like MBG and DFC. Hashman Deejay comes correct with "Sandopolis," a very pure and focused moment on wax.

It’s already been two years since Leonardo Martelli’s debut with the four-tracker Menti Singole. He has since been following the direction he took with this first release, at a rather slow path, releasing a lone and haunted mini-album, Previsto, in the meantime. With Menti Singole Vol.2, Martelli establishes a picture of his music, an update of his aspirations in the feminine.
 
Sparse, clear-cut and slightly nerve-racking, Micaella opens the record with the precision of a neurosurgeon. The song can be seen in many ways as a good introduction to the music of the Italian musician – past and probably future. Ethereal string machines balance the nagging acid leitmotiv: as often with Martelli’s music, there’s something going on in the background, some anonymous forces operating off-screen.
 
We can make the same assessment with Alice, the most obviously desperate tune on the record: the sad synth melody comes in as if it was trying to fill an emotional void, but the supposedly reassuring sentence is not complete, notes are missing. On Laura – just like with Alice – Martelli keeps on playing with the potential of abstraction of rap samples, a process we’re familiar with since Previsto.
 
Sofia gives a particularly striking example of this weird game he likes to play as Biggie Smalls’ words get progressively eviscerated from their meaning. Backed by bare percussive samples (a numerical metronome, copyright-free digital ersatz of percussions), Sofia depicts – without any artifice – despair in a post-industrial world, where everything has lost any sense of materiality – while Previsto was still set in a industrial world of steaming factories. Disarmingly simple, Menti Singole Vol.2 offers electronic mourning music at its most elegant.

In his debut EP at Goma Rec, Barsotti gives us three original tracks and a remix by Marcelulose. The producer already appeared in Goma's VA 2 with the track Pecado (with Technovinho). Now he returns to the label with an EP that brings the theme of moral deviation that accompanies humanity as a fine line. The EP stitches Sergio Barsotti's 80's references, which go through science fiction and the timbres of Synthwave and Dark Disco, with images of a futuristic hell taken from a dream. The result is a Inferno with neon lights covered like a game where each track represents a level, dialoguing with the apocalyptic climate in which we live.
