Silence The Swamps emerged from the murky waters of Possum Pocket, Alabama in the summer of 2016. The three-piece band has extracted elements from early Seattle grunge, 1970-80 NYC punk, and the early 90's California surf-punk scene to form a unique, fuzzed out Horror Punk approach. Taking old elements and making them fresh and exciting is something the band strives for. 

 The band formed in the summer of 2016 when Cam Jonze, Dylan Sutton and Brendan Toft decided to finally embark on a project they have had brewing for over a decade. Fueled by a mutual vision of writing raw punk music, the timing was right not only for themselves but for the current state of music. The group began jamming in Jonze' basement on a weekly basis crafting their sound. “When we first started jamming it was an organic feeling, nothing was forced and nothing was over thought. We were just making some raw-ass punk music that was fast and loud,” says Jonze. “Brendan and Dylan started playing what felt comfortable to them and it came natural.” 
The band was then formed, Jonze on vocals and drums, Sutton on Bass, Toft on Guitar. 

 The foundation of accelerated crisp drumming, complimented by a dark, mean, fuzzy bass, topped off with a sharp overdriven guitar creates the Silence the Swamps signature. A vintage sound with a modern twist, oozing with distortion and attitude. 
“The timbre of the bass and guitar is muddy but played with pinpoint accuracy, when accompanied by the pocket-centric drums it gives off that raw, stripped down punk rock vibe," explains Sutton. Jonze' voice tops it all off, his raspy depth proving to be the driving force behind each cut. Fictional horror-like themes coupled with real life recollections and emotions compile the band’s often dark lyrical imagery, all while never losing their charming, tongue-in-cheek nature. The band members all work together and contribute to the lyrical content and theme for each track. 

 The band released their debut EP on March 16, 2017. Having fun and doing something they all love is the foundation of the band, but their goals and ambitions regarding where it can go reach much higher.
“We are all brothers who share the same extreme passion for music. We want to get out there as much as possible over the next year, make a serious push to have our music and vision reach people’s eyes and ears. Once we have this 8 track EP released in early 2017 the world is ours,” says Toft.

“We are not really from Possum Pocket, Alabama,” Jonze laughs. The band mates went to highschool together in Cochrane, Alberta but now all reside in Calgary, Alberta. “We have had an enduring friendship for over 15 years. One thing that clicked for us right off the bat was our love for music, whatever genre it was and of course, as you can tell, our joking camaraderie.” 
Sutton agrees, “All of our ideas and influences have finally come together after all these years of talking about it, to form this band which we are proud to call our own. Those who have known us over the years can hear each one of us come through in the music. This band truly is the sum of its parts; no one is sitting in the background. We all have our own personalities and quirks that have come together to form this amazing project.”

Il progetto Puls_-R nasce per mano mia, poiché sono autore e arrangiatore di tutto il primo disco. Da un tentativo iniziale di creare una band sbattendomi tra Milano e Bergamo alla ricerca di musicisti, nel frattempo comincio a registrare le prime chitarre. Tuttavia trovare musicisti che condividano il genere particolare non è affatto cosa semplice, per cui alla ricerca  affianco sessioni di registrazione, e alla fine il materiale diventa piuttosto corposo. Alle chitarre si affiancano quindi gli arrangiamenti di basso, voci e batteria. La scelta delle linee vocali e dei testi riveste senza dubbio la parte più complessa nella scrittura del disco. Trovare delle linee vocali che siano quanto più distanti dalla banalità costituisce un lavoro estenuante e logorante, e la scrittura e la riscrittura dei testi rende il lavoro faticoso. Quello che ne viene fuori è un trio noise-rock senza fronzoli, forte e dal suono spigoloso e diretto. Il progetto si caratterizza quindi per i suoi testi lontani da ogni compromesso, espliciti, che trattano con crudo realismo il disinteresse e l'indifferenza propria dei nostri tempi. Gli arrangiamenti sono ricchi e dinamici, il suono volutamente grezzo, acerbo ed essenziale per mantenere il carico emotivo e diretto proprio dell'intero disco. I riferimenti musicali spaziano dai Melvins ai Jesus Lizard passando per realtà italiane di tutto rispetto come gli One Dimensional Man o il Teatro Degli orrori. L'obiettivo è creare un suono granitico, che non scendesse a compromessi, diretto. Le voci non sono mai armonizzate e i suoni mantengono una coerenza e una continuità dal primo all'ultimo pezzo. Il progetto nasce con l'idea di non voler accontentare nessuno, consapevole di non essere gradito alla massa. Spinto da una forte necessità comunicativa ed espressiva, il primo album "Le cose che finiscono (tutte)" ha avuto una gestazione prolungata (circa due anni). Ma alla fine è venuto fuori "di corpo", senza badare troppo alla forma.
