You said you needed energy? You might want to turn up the sounds on Chris Schweizers latest works then. ‘Alive’ and ‘Now Or Never’ bring two follow-ups to the Heatbeat collab smash that was ‘Nasty’!

There’s a rough side to the trancy tunes of Buenos Aires based producer Chris Schweizer that makes them different. They’re tunes with a bite, and lots of us love to take that bite. 

Armin van Buuren is one of them. We welcome Chris to the A State of Trance label, as he hits in with ‘Alive’ and ‘Now Or Never’. Two solid bangers for nothing less than peak-time!

Where did the time go?

199 releases and 10 years after label owner Tomcraft released the label-founding anthem Great Stuff with Eniac, Great Stuff Recordings proudly presents its 200th release. One of Resident Advisor&#8217;s Top 20 Most Charted Labels of all time, they&#8217;ve had countless underground and overground successes alike, blending the two sides of the commercial coin in a way few others have managed for such a duration.

Harking back to a funkier time in house music, its hard-grooving bassline and chunky beats provide the perfect counterweight to its euphoric melodies. Those Depeche Mode-esque, trance-tinged breakdown chords pointed a finger to the future of stadium-sized house, while gliding orchestral and sampled strings alike added yet more class. Epic &#8216;80s rock style guitars completed the package, all woven into nine minutes of electronic epicness. Remastered in all its glory here, it&#8217;s sounding fresher than ever.

Three killer remixes bring this 2002 classic up to date. D-Nox &amp; Beckers keep things simple and respectful, with delicate synth arpeggios and the original&#8217;s glorious strings paired with a warm bassline and consistent rhythmic energy. Alex Kenji &amp; NKDj up the bounce factor with offbeat stabs doing battle with those string blasts and seriously pumping beats, while all manner of huge FX and builds bring the track up to fever pitch. Prince Club round off with a more demure effort, skippy classic house beats and rugged low-slung bass building a dark atmosphere around the sampled strings. All three remixes bring something different to this classic and make this milestone package an unmissable piece of house music history.

Returning to Great Stuff after his huge Inside Me on Great Stuff Grooves 6 earlier this year, Italian talent Ruben Mandolini brings another banger to the label in Automatic. Having also appeared on Toolroom, Defected and Riva Starr&#8217;s Snatch! in 2013, he&#8217;s on serious form.

Automatic centres around a turgid, hard-jacking beast of a slinky techno groove, with punchy, heavily swung beats thumping away around atonal womps of sub bass. It barely needs anything more to make it an irresistible proposition, but Mandolini&#8217;s chopped and screwed vocals, epic pads and breakbeats in the breakdowns and warped pitch-bending synths take this to another level entirely. Seductive, dirty and cool, it&#8217;s everything you could want from a cutting-edge tech romper.

Piemont are left with a formidable task on the remix - but hey, this is Piemont we&#8217;re talking about. Throwing a load of metallic percussion, a rugged bassline and much FX trickery into their kit bag, they set off on a mission to pump the track up into something with a more atmospheric, hypnotic and haunting feel - and succeed in very impressive fashion.

Dj and producer from Barcelona Triumph follows last year anthem 'Discover', with another monster track. This time he joins forces to his friend Ivan Picazo to deliver 'Soyuz' featuring another amazing sax performance from Valldeneu.

The Original is a big driving deep tech number with an emotional feeling...

Emil Berliner hailing from Vienna makes his debut on Great Stuff with &#8220;What&#8217;s Love&#8221;. The young Austrian provides us with deep vibes and moody chords. Heavy beats and cutting edge percussion float through a sea of dreamy male vocals and avant-garde guitar licks. A perfect way to start into winter and slowly wave good bye to 2014.

Great Stuff regular Ridney presents the first remix on this fine EP. He&#8217;s brightening up the track a bit through changing the synth layers and adding super crispy hi-hat patterns on top. This gives the vocal even more room to break through in the mix. Ridney also made sure to keep to overall feel of the original alive.

Mediate from Manchester crafted remix number two. Sleek delay and reverb effect work give the vocal a brand new taste and uplifting chord progressions make their mix a future house classic!

Emil Berliner - What's Love (Original Mix)

Mario Ochoa returns to Great Stuff with his superb one-tracker &#8220;Stingray&#8221;. Built to set dance floors on fire, Mario goes all in with his latest creation. Praising house music with a repetitive old school vocal snippet, while hi-hat &amp; ride thunderstorms rage on top. A precise kick and sub bass programming make sure to provide the right amount of boom. The spellbinding synth melody sets the energetic vibe.

Mario Ochoa - Stingray (Original Mix)

Cologne&#8217;s dynamic duo Beatkind make their long awaited return to Great Stuff with their second block buster release &#8220;Funky B&#8221;. They resume where they left off, with last years &#8220;Daily Life&#8221; EP. 

A moody, ruff bassline drills it self through a thumping bass drum &amp; percussion ensemble. Cleverly layered on top sits the pitched down male vocal, adding the extra craziness. An armory of weird synth fills and melodies gets fired onto the dance floor at the same time. 

Sam Freeze and Mo Digital&#8217;s second track &#8220;High Culture&#8221; features a more abstract atmosphere and sleek Rasta Man vocals that seem to attack from all sides of the stereo spectrum. Playful melodies and break downs make this a very intense slow burner. 

The extremely talented up and comers Saccao &amp; Shake Sofa are on remix duties. They kept the original feel and drive of &#8220;Funky B&#8221; in tact, while transforming the sub frequencies to go down a slightly deeper route. The re-worked vocals and effects interchange incredibly well with the new arrangement of sounds.
