BIOGRAPHY

Greenport was a short-lived acoustic folk rock band from Finland fronted equally by three singer-songwriters Elisa Laiho, Arijukka Turtiainen and Jatte Riikonen each performing their own songs playing acoustic guitars and piano backed up by bassist Arto Anttila and Esu Holopainen on percussion, guitars and backing vocals.

Greenport was widely influenced by both American and British folk rock traditions and like many major artists in this genre harbored a deep dedication towards authenticity in every aspect of their music and its presentation. They performed live gigs around 2004 - 2005 and made this previously unreleased studio recording produced by the band themselves.

A Boy And The Eagle

What's the spark that glows in the distance?
What's that howl behind my door?
What's the price for going out there?
They asked no price from me at all

I took my hand to touch the window
Unsure beneath, still weak in heart
Something crawled up as I pushed it open
It took me on right from the start

What's inflicted by the eye
Got caught up by desire
The seed grew in the mind
It was all denied
Where no silence occurs
The heated crowd conquers
The body floats and turns
There's no return

    And somewhere far beneath the dream
    There walks a boy
    Across a field
    He holds a star
    Tight in his arms
    In silence of the timeless night
    The eagle sets into her flight
    She knows the field
    But holds her scream

Driving on along the headlights
Drawing out the lines by heart
