PAUL SAWYER my guest Dj for show number 7.  Let's go back in time to the start of my Dj journey.   Paul has been one of my longest buddies in the music scene going way back to early 1993 when I first had a spin on his Technics decks in his massive shed in the back garden. From around 1990 I was window tinting for him and his brother on their awesome cars.  Paul had a Gold Ford Orion Mk 4 Ghia with a gold coloured body kit.  One of the hardest rear windows to window tint back in the day because of its wrap around rear window.  Also Paul had an awesome stand up Jet ski that I hand cut the graphics on and it featured in a magazine at the time.  We lived out in the sticks between Winchester and Alton. I was already a clubber from the age that I was allowed into clubs where I was first exposed to the Summer of Love 89 house movement that was underground, but became chart topping groundbreaking music. 
 
I was always fascinated by the dj's and watched over them whenever clubbing.  I was already buying vinyl 12"s of the big hits at the time.  So to meet someone with decks and to be let loose on them was so exciting for me.  I remember as soon as I had learnt to mix two records together in his shed for the first time I had that feeling that I now knew exactly what I wanted to do and why I was here.  Not only did Paul have a set of decks, he also had a very early sampler and ATARI computer running Cubase.  I will never forget how interested I was in learning to make my own tracks.  Something I had dreamed of since a very young age making my own music.  I will also never forget how once he dangled his studio keys in front of me saying I was welcome to go up there any time I wanted and whilst they were away on holiday. This was also a turning point for me and my passions for making dance music.
Paul then teamed up with Gary Bennetton from Southampton then for many years and years promoted nights in clubs and legendary boat parties under the name of Menage A Trois.  Booking all the big names at the time.  We played Club UK, House of Windsor, Rhino Club Southampton, Star Club Ibiza and many more up and down the UK.
Trips to Ibiza, gigs, girls all got in the way of our paths as we grew as DJ's.  We had many years without contact.  I signed to Bedrock Records and became a professional DJ flying around the world for nearly 10 years and lost contact with nearly all of my closest friends from being away weekend after weekend, way before the days of social media and the internet.  
After both of us had broken marriages we reunited once again as Paul started his record label now known as Krafted.  Going from strength to strength today. Last weekend marked their 300th release.   I've been playing some amazing music from the Krafted department recently.  He always amazes me how he finds the time to make all these tracks and remixes one after the other and run the label, run his business and ride/race bikes in woods.  His style is more on the vocal side of Progressive House and Trance. Uplifting in its nature, but with quality production and dance floor relentless energy. 

This show you are in for a high energy treat with some of the best vocal dance tracks around.  Some have never even been played on a dance floor, created by Paul and released though his team behind him pushing boundaries making a massive impact on the UK dance scene.

Greg Gow is one of Canada’s most accomplished electronic musical talents with a growing presence and impact at home and across the world. He regularly brings his unique sound and performance excellence to premium venues across four continents. The award-winning producer and DJ consistently pushes the boundaries of his art, with his hypnotic sound, a skillful hybrid of soulful Detroit techno, marinated in the diverse flavors of his Toronto roots. 

There are haunting echoes in Greg’s music to the sounds of legendary world techno pioneers Derrick May, Kevin Sanderson, and Carl Craig, all of whom are his musical mentors and his abiding inspiration. Greg’s track “The Bridge” was instrumental in re-launching May’s iconic Transmat label, and his releases on Sanderson’s KMS took the techno world by storm at a pivotal time. Multiple collaborations have spread his penetrating sound to other leading labels, including Radioslave’s Rekids/ RSPX, Steve Bug’s Poker Flat, Christian Smith’s Tronic, Adam Beyer’s Truesoul, and Dubfire’s SCI+TEC.

Since 2001, Greg’s own label, Restructured Recordings, has pushed deep, funky,
driving melodic techno from artists such as Mateo Murphy, Samuel L Session, Ian
O’Donovan, and of course, Greg himself. For over three years he has produced and distributed a well-received monthly podcast series. This Is Modulations, features recordings of live sets as well as studio mixes.

Beyond his studio prowess, Greg is one of Canada’s most respected techno
ambassadors, regularly playing alongside other behemoths of dance music. He has starred from coast to coast in each of Canada, the United States and Mexico; from the top to the tip of South America; and widely across Europe and Asia. Global highlights include The BPM Festival; Output NYC; Movement Detroit; Movement Torino, Italy; Watergate Berlin, Ushuala, Ibiza; Club Space Miami; Creamfields, Dubai; and Club Air Tokyo; among many more. 

On his home turf, Greg has a residency at Toronto’s Vertigo, highlights at Montreal’s Stereo, and appears frequently at many of Canada’s premiere festivals like Electric Island. Greg’s track I Knew Techno, released on his Restructured Recordings label, won the 2023 Juno Award in the Underground Dance Single Of The Year category. These prestigious awards presented annually by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to recognize outstanding national achievements in Canada’s music industry. 

With the help of Avid Artist Agency Greg Gow is now planning a world tour to celebrate his 20 years of ever evolving success and spread his vibrant Techno sound.
