'Long way home' is the title track of the debut album from the Greg Lloyd Group (GLG). This track is repeating a riff throughout most of the song. It reminds me of the long walk home after a crazy night out on the town with some friends when you are feeling tired from the festivities. The continuous movement of the tired legs highlighted by the riff.

I wrote this song 'Danny' with the idea of open space in the back of my mind. I thought of the waves hitting the Manly to Circular Quay ferry on Sydney Harbour. I grew up in Sydney and I am now spending my time between New York and Dublin Ireland. This song reminds me of my home, the water and warmth of the sunshine.

To me the sound of the music is like Tord Gustaven or Esbjorn Svensson EST. 

I later dedicated this song to a good friend of mine Danny who passed away. A fantastic alto player/composer and friend who is sadly missed on the Sydney jazz scene. To Danny! Dan the man!

'Chew the fat' was written to represent what New York sounds like to me. I wanted to try and capture the sounds, people, energy of life in New York. The beginning voices were recorded on my handy Edirol MP3 recorder in a bar in Harlem.

I recorded this track about 9am with Dave Redmond (bass) the 2nd day of recording "Long way Home"  myself and Dave were early too the recording session that day as I picked him up so we recorded this track. From memory this is the 2nd and last take. I wanted to try and capture the Pat Metheny/Charlie Haden "Missouri Sky" duo album in my own way with a composition of my own :)
