Breaking Dread EP *Foretaste*

We are looking forward to introduce Marco Resmanns new EP on Watergate Records, which starts off with a RAD-feature: "Life About To Change" is a vocal-based track, whose dreamy synth-scapes wind around a deeply reduced beat structure.

The second track, whose name is reminiscent of Marco’s summer-Thursday-residency on the Waterfloor, begins playful and timid, but picks up speed gradually after its first break. "Thursdate" comes with a massive remix by the Pokerflat-mastermind Steve Bug.

<p>MOOD Records welcomes the New Year in with a bang as it celebrates reaching its tenth release. After initially appearing on MOOD Records first ever EP, Canadian hotshot Nathan Barato returns for the landmark tenth EP for the label, set for release on March 3rd. <br />
Lead track Strange Things captivating the listener from the off with heavy-hitting percussion and an echoing distorted vocal. The track bubbles away nicely until further sounds are expertly added, with the final result being a brutally effective peak time techno bomb. Crazy Her continues in similar fashion, containing all the elements you would expect from a MOOD Release: driving percussion, thumping bass, polished sounds and swirling melodies. It launches with forceful hi-hats and is quickly complemented by beating bass, and industrial melodies, which serve to create an air of tension a real effective dancefloor weapon. Overall then the landmark Two Finger EP encapsulates everything that MOOD records has become known and loved for over its ten releases: tough rolling techno for the club to loose yourself in. Fact 1: The voice on our track is from our close friend Miss Bunty, who is one of the best house vocalists we know. It was an honour to work with her. The first time we saw her perform was during the NOW&amp;WOW period in Rotterdam when we were youngsters. And now 10 years later we decided to go back in time for another 10 years to join forces.
Fact 2: We originally made this track at the start of last years summer.

‘One Of A Kind’ is the new release from LS2 featuring Romany; a multidimensional piece of house, with two brilliant producers working their magic on the remixes to create this superb EP - a perfect example of why we’re loving vocal house.

Powered with emotion, the original mix centres around Romany’s crowd-stopping chorus, while the Leeds duo ensure this is main-room material with a heavy beat interspersed throughout.

Onto the remixes, and the first from an industry heavyweight who’s had an absolutely massive year, Alex Lister aka A Lister. This exciting mix sees him bring us into more consistent, peak time territory, rearranging the vocals and extending the beat to run throughout.

The second mix is from upcoming talent Rare Candy, who’s gone and completely transformed the track. With the central hook moved forward, the track slowly builds with ascending synths and an ethereal melody, before the explosive drop gives way to a heady mix of mechanical synths and heavy bass. Two exciting takes on this brilliant release.

When the Minicoolboyz changed their brand name to Many Reasons in late 2014, they were ready to embark on a new techno adventure. A bold move! Since then they have worked relentlessly on finding a new “language” to express their exciting and cutting edge sounds. 

With the ‘Call Up EP’ they present us with three refined, peak time compositions that will elevate techno-sets for months to come. The EP’s title track ‘Call Up’ consists of a thick, rolling groove, that is accompanied by a subtle but monstrous sub layer. The horn sounds and delay-effect filled percussions provide an overall transcendental vibe. 

The ‘Optic’ slow burner steadily drills itself into one’s consciousness. The massive kick drum glides through the track, while the sleek, minimal melody pattern adds an hypnotizing feel.   

Many Reasons are closing out the EP with ‘Invasive’. A rawer combination of moody sounds and crisp hi-hats are weaving a tight web around profound percussion sounds. A heads-down trip into the darker corners of techno.

Astral Black aren't letting up with the haymakers. Drae Da Skimask's '95 Mindfulness was some uppercut - the best in 'melodic trap rhythms' if we don't say so ourselves. Me+1 is up next; the collaborative project from LDN-based word slinger, ItsNate and Soulection/Rinse FM affiliated producer, JD. Reid. The pair have been on-off tag-team partners for yonks, consistently honing in on the vertex between hip-hop/trap and grime with flick-of-the-wrist ease.

They're not too shabby on their own either. ItsNate's discography has cobbled together some of UK hip-hop's most promising beatsmiths - from Darq E Freaker, Budgie and skwlkr while also being earmarked by Danny Brown as one of his UK MC faves. JD's outings on Plastician’s Terrorhythm imprint, a feature on Soulection x Stussy’s 2014 compilation and a recent collab with Grime wunder-kid, Faze Miyaki are all finely tuned efforts too.

"Chopper" is a pan-Atlantic affair, placing ItsNate shoulder-to-shoulder with Chicago's very own 'soul trap' originator, Tree.

Bristol has been Britain's musical hub for all things bass since forever. EVM128 (Luke Meads) happens to be one of the most recent producers spinning his musical heritage into newer formats.

Looking back on Meads' BR mini-mix from 2011, the homegrown influence is indeed palpable. These 25 minutes exhibit the comprehensive sound of 'post-dubstep' bass claps and 8-bit synths. Now, four years on, Meads has polished the sound into something refreshingly new. Taken from his forthcoming debut album, the track "Treatment" flaunts a broken beat, distinctively swung, which keeps the same sensuality and bassline of Bristol's musical past, but now in more upbeat nu-jazz surroundings.

Frankyeffe will step up to the big leagues next month, as Riot Recordings drop his debut album, Trenta, on November 9th.

Promising to be an intimate affair, the 16-track effort features the vocals of fellow Italian, Phil, and will offer a range of "melody-driven techno and electronica" according to the press release.

"I wanted to add to my sound palette," says Frankyeffe. "Different genres and sounds that I hadn’t tackled before but that I’d been thinking about for some time. ‘Trenta’ felt like the right moment to set myself new challenges. These types of sound have always fascinated me, I have always loved melodies fused with electronics and it was great to be able to broaden my cultural and musical knowledge."

Now, with this new installment of 12 tracks and once again accompanied by forward-thinking artwork by long-time collaborating 3D-artist Dennis Richter, it seems that Gregor managed to bridge the gap to his early releases by transforming their original, uncompromising sound into the here and now. Gregor puts it this way: “I am aiming to find the right balance in-between the vibe of some of my early music and the kind of modern Techno I like to play as a DJ, but at the same time I do not want to stand still but evolve as a musician. The goal I try to reach is to create something that will hopefully stand the test of time.“ 

After the haunting opening piece “Numb”, it´s “Surrender” and “Tyrant” that instantly set the tone for what we consider to be Tresher´s most complete piece of work to date. And when the title track “Quiet Distortion” kicks off, people will instantly recognize that Midas-touch that made Gregor´s sound a quality trademark in the world of electronic music.

There are of course tracks that will find their place in playlists by Gregor´s DJ-colleagues: The rumbling “Depend“ that´s also been a staple in Gregor´s own sets over the past months, “Consistency“, which finds its niche in-between the melodic openers and a more tough Dancefloor-approach or the menacing “The Kraken“, that reminds of Tresher´s work on Adam Beyer´s seminal Drumcode label. With “Decades”, we get a glimpse of Gregor´s Sniper Mode project, which he buried at a time when real Electro lost its name to a different genre of music. And then of course there´s the mighty “Goliath“ - the only previously released track on the album: Pretty much everyone who has spent a night on a dance floor of a Techno club in the past year will recognize it, as it has been championed by so many.

Accompanying the release, Gregor embarks on another extensive album tour spanning over six months. It will include a mixture of exclusive live performances as well as DJ-gigs kicking off at the end of May and touching down on some of the most prolific music festivals and clubs around the world.
