With his new artist album “Quiet Distortion” ready for release this summer, Gregor Tresher once again sets sail to break new soil, proving why he is considered to be one of the most consistent artists in the universe of Techno music. “About A Good Place”, “Neon”, “A Thousand Nights”, “Full Range Madness” or his recent “Goliath” amongst many others - the list of Tresher's tracks that have turned into modern classics is more than impressive.

Now, with this new installment of 12 tracks and once again accompanied by forward-thinking artwork by long-time collaborating 3D-artist Dennis Richter, it seems that Gregor managed to bridge the gap to his early releases by transforming their original, uncompromising sound into the here and now. Gregor puts it this way: “I am aiming to find the right balance in-between the vibe of some of my early music and the kind of modern Techno I like to play as a DJ, but at the same time I do not want to stand still but evolve as a musician. The goal I try to reach is to create something that will hopefully stand the test of time.“ 

After the haunting opening piece “Numb”, it´s “Surrender” and “Tyrant” that instantly set the tone for what we consider to be Tresher´s most complete piece of work to date. And when the title track “Quiet Distortion” kicks off, people will instantly recognize that Midas-touch that made Gregor´s sound a quality trademark in the world of electronic music.

There are of course tracks that will find their place in playlists by Gregor´s DJ-colleagues: The rumbling “Depend“ that´s also been a staple in Gregor´s own sets over the past months, “Consistency“, which finds its niche in-between the melodic openers and a more tough Dancefloor-approach or the menacing “The Kraken“, that reminds of Tresher´s work on Adam Beyer´s seminal Drumcode label. With “Decades”, we get a glimpse of Gregor´s Sniper Mode project, which he buried at a time when real Electro lost its name to a different genre of music. And then of course there´s the mighty “Goliath“ - the only previously released track on the album: Pretty much everyone who has spent a night on a dance floor of a Techno club in the past year will recognize it, as it has been championed by so many.

Accompanying the release, Gregor embarks on another extensive album tour spanning over six months. It will include a mixture of exclusive live performances as well as DJ-gigs kicking off at the end of May and touching down on some of the most prolific music festivals and clubs around the world.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Jel Ford kicks off his return EP with two tracks of clean big room techno. The title track ‘Backyard’ is a moody affair with a low drone throughout that is complimented with layered synth stabs. Using reverb to create atmosphere within the track it subtly breaks down before a vocal hook transcends the track to deliver a killer blow. ‘Meeting of Minds’ is dubbier and uses a tripped out synth to add rhythm whilst working alongside a synth pattern to keep the track chugging along. The slow evolving pads add texture and keep the track nicely filled out whilst this timeless classic keeps on giving.

A work 12 months in the making, Adam Beyer continues his exciting series of collaborative EPs, teaming up with heavy-hitters Pig&Dan for an multi-faceted four-tracker.

Chances are up if you spied Adam Beyer in an airport departure lounge over the past 12 months, he’d have his head buried in his laptop, immersed in creating sound sketches. A long-time fan of collaborations, the Drumcode chief has been on an inspiring streak of form lately, teaming up with the likes of Mark Reeve, Dense & Pika and now Pig&Dan. The results have been compelling, to say the least. 

In trademark perfectionist Beyer style, the title track ‘Capsule’ – a shimmering slice of techno - involved “around 15 different versions” the track rigorously road tested by the Swede and featured in episodes of Drumcode Radio to test dancefloor reactions, before finally getting the sign off.  ‘In Love’ is a big room techno groover, driven by crisp drums and the kind of evocative vocal effect that’ll have hairs standing on ends. ‘Atmosfear’ is true to its name, centered on a menacing synth line and gritty percussion, its deep kicks and subterranean bass combining superbly to create a heady dancefloor brew. ‘We Are E’ is propelled by a catchy synth hook and a classic call-to-arms vocal, which tips its cap to the artists’ shared love of classic UK rave.

Adam Beyer Vs Pig&Dan - In Love - Drumcode - DC171

DC172 comes on behalf of Brazilian born Vinicius Honorio, a now London based producer and DJ who is making some serious in-roads amongst a new breed of techno artists. Having already released on labels such as Pig&Dan’s Elevate and dubspeeka’s Skeleton, the next natural step in his progression comes in the form of a release on Drumcode. 

‘Through The Darkness’ is a masterclass in darkened techno grooves, with each one of the four tracks managing to show off Honorio’s skill as a producer and just why he is firing on all cylinders. The release kicks off with ‘Walking Shadow’, a track that has been a key part of Adam Beyer’s sets at the tail end of 2016 and in to the new year. This tense, brooding affair has certainly garnered a lot of attention of late and it’s clear to see why. The title track ‘Through The Darkness’ is a much more of a stripped back cut, jam-packed with a haunting vocal hook, driving basslines and slick drums. This is one for the late night mischief makers. ‘Desolate’ is another hard-hitter, managing to perfectly balance that signature Honorio groove and pounding drums that adds depth to his productions. The release closes with the atmospheric ‘Out For Blood’, which is loaded with vintage rave stabs and weighty basslines – This one is meant to played in dark and sweaty rooms.

2016 was a standout year for Alan Fitzpatrick, with the Drumcode stalwart racing out of the gates in spectacular fashion with the release of his fabric 87 mix. A substantial amount of high profile shows followed, including appearing at the inaugural Junction 2 festival and closing the car park to a packed-to-the-rafters-crowd at Drumcode Halloween. He returns to Drumcode with ‘Brian’s Proper Dun One’, marking his first appearance on the label since late 2016 when he remixed Moby’s seminal ‘Porcelain’.

The release opens with ‘Brian’s Proper Dun One’, a track which caused a Twitter meltdown on Alan’s profile when he first started playing it at the tail end of 2016. Loaded with sharp and pounding drums, this is an ethereal experience from start to finish and packs a real punch. It’s a no holds barred, certified main room anthem. ‘Wait A Second’ feat. mc r1bbz has been a staple of Adam Beyer’s sets of late and has been getting a lot of air time on Drumcode Radio. This rave inspired track takes a raw, stripped back approach and delivers a real killer blow. Alan sampled the vocals of mc r1bbz from an LTJ Bukem tape pack from the early 90s and the record tips its cap to early jungle raves around the M25. The release closes with ‘Trance, Init?’; A homage to Alan’s days first and foremost as a raver before he became a DJ, with his non-purist attitude when it comes to electronic music shining through. The breakdown is sure to be a hands in the air moment at festivals all over the globe this summer.

Brace for Impact!

January 14th marks the release of a new ‘Mumbai Science’ single EP, called ‘Impact’. The 9th EP already by the Belgian electronic duo, praised for their ‘faux pas’ techno, a fusion of futuristic outer-space melodies and post mortem 909 grooves. This time, the guys pitch their work as ‘... a dark, apocalyptic journey, echoing themes of inner conflict, moral tribulation and regret.’ Sounds promising!

The original track on the EP is called ‘Impact’. When listening to the music, one cannot escape the feeling that the harsh Belgian conditions of political conflict tainted the art. Albeit very heavy to the heart, the original track delivers on its promise in style. ‘Impact’ is a powerful track, which definitely lives up to its name.

On remix duty is John Roman, the Toronto based ‘wunderkind’ whose track ‘Petrified’ was proclaimed as tune of last summer by Tiga, Brodinski and other sophisticated people who know their shit. John accomplishes the seemingly impossible by transforming the heaviness of ‘Impact’ into his own cutting edge tribal-techno sound. Perfect for those who seek the ‘chic’ in ‘musique’.

The other remix is delivered by proper legends Cisco Ferreira and Ricardo Rodriguez, better known as ‘The Advent & Industrialyzer’. Cisco - ‘The Advent’ - stood at the cradle of Techno back 20 years ago and keeps playing an important role throughout its history. Together with Ricardo - ‘Industrialyzer’ -  they are renowned for their pursuit to push boundaries. The remix for ‘Impact’ shows their innovative look on Techno, blending the relentless arpeggiators of the original with a futuristic, machinelike timbre.

The ‘Impact EP’ showcases a broad spectrum of contemporary techno music. From the festival energy of Mumbai Science's original track, over the sleazy afterclub vibe of John Roman's version to the 'Kraftwerkian' interpretation of The Advent & Industrialyzer. The EP will be out on the 14th of January on Lektroluv records.
