“I’m feeling pretty lucky today, so I felt like giving away a remix I did for my friend and telling everyone a little bit about how it came to be. About 8 years ago when I lived in Mumbai I met a tall lanky white guy named Chris Burns who was an all vinyl deep house/baltimore club spinning DJ spending time in India playing in a cricket league. These next few words are being written for you to contemplate the awesomeness of that. 

 I was only in high school at the time, playing a few gigs gigs and meeting DJs all around the city and Chris used to come over and mix at my house after school sometimes. We also occasionally played for the same promoter, Submerge. These were good memories and the city’s house movement was so young at the time, it really felt like we were playing a style of music that hadn’t really been played in India at the time. We stayed in touch via email, Chris would send me tunes from his friends’ label’s every once and a while but after some time we lost touch.
 
Eventually Gchat got to me. I kept seeing Chris’s name there on the side and got a few Facebook invites to gigs in baltimore now that he had returned from India to the states. We started speaking again and he started sending me a lot more music. He had been working hard and so had I. Seven years later we were both doing our thing. He sent me his single that he did with Denis Henderson called IYE and I just had to edit it, I didn’t even care if it would be released. It was just so close to what I liked and I knew once I had the parts I could do exactly what I needed to do. He was down and sent me everything shortly after. I really got into it and ended up having such a great time I did a full remix, rather than a simple edit. I even added a few vocals of my own.
 
Chris and I finally saw each other again this year in Detroit at Movement Festival and it was great. First we met in the lobby of the Motor City Casino and then he came out to TV Lounge for my gig at Circo Loco on tour. Now in less than two weeks I get to go live out one of my dreams and play at Circoloco @ DC10 in Ibiza. Giving away the remix on my Soundcloud in time for that party makes a lot of sense in my head. So basically, don’t ever stop pursuing your passions, even if you sometimes get distracted make sure you come back. In the eight years that passed since we first met a lot of things happened in both of our lives but the music brought us together again!”

“The Dogs” is the last song that we made for the record. When I make a record, I’ll write about 300 songs, narrow them down to 75, and then narrow that down to 30; and then six months ago, we narrowed them down to 15. But when Spike and I started, we agreed there could only be 12 songs on the records, so I got rid of three of them. On the very last day of making the record, I finished “The Dogs” and thought I’d just put it on the very end, because no one’s going to listen to it. I like it, but as it's the last song on the record in an age when people don't buy or listen to records I don’t really expect many people will hear it.”

Hot Creations hit us with another monster of a release this time from Tom Dinsdale (ex-Audio Bully’s) under his new project Mineo. Title track ‘Turn Out The Lights’ is an intoxicatingly deep groover with a dense low riding bassline, punchy warm chords and an infectious dark male vocal adding a real standout element for the dancefloor. Over on the B-side label head Jamie Jones is on remix duty to deliver one of his best, picking up the pace and turning it into a deep and powerful techy monster, twisted and dark, perfect for the later hours. On a more uplifting tip, the second track from Mineo ‘Off The Handle’ again carries that distinct UK sound. Bass heavy with perfect underlying swing the track twists and turns through different percussion patterns with captivating distorted vocals riding through the many layers.

Tom Dinsdale aka Mineo has been buried away in the studio for the past eighteen months working on music for his new solo project. Sending the tracks to Jamie Jones and Lee Foss as demos, they were soon snapped up and have become a staple part in both of their sets, smashing dancefloors worldwide from Ibiza to Burning Man festival.

Busier than ever with his hectic schedule, Jamie Jones has been touring as a solo artist but also along with Lee Foss, Ali Love and Luca C as their Hot Natured band, headlining their own events at the likes of Brixton Academy and festivals including Sonar and Glastonbury. Along with this Jamie has been running his Paradise night at DC10 in Ibiza for it’s second year with huge line ups featuring big names like Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice but also the new artists Jamie is pushing such as wAFF and Patrick Topping. Finding the time somehow, Jamie has also been hard at work in the studio producing music with the Hot Natured crew with a recent debut album release and also doing a number of remixes for his three record labels.

The Perfect Life is an epic electronic soul track, which showcases the collaborations album to dramatic effect. Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips joins Moby to deliver an uplifting and melodic anthem.

The casting call was posted on Moby’s Facebook and included some very specific extras, "S&M gimp rhythmic gymnast", "eight roller-skating ghosts", "12 goth choir members", "2 obese bearded bikers in red speedos", "a punk rock brass brand" and " a drunk king: guy with beard age 35-50".

The EP kicks of with their ‘Bass Times Remix’ where precise, minimalist percussion, vast soundscapes and distorted basslines are laid down underneath a controlled and stripped back original vocal. The track builds nicely to a vox-laden broken beat drop, and a 2 minute long 4/4 techno stomp. Pan- Pot’s ‘Tribute To Life Remix’ follows with yet more murky soundscapes, a thumping kick drum, progressive builds in percussion and the of course that bassline . Twisting the original track to provide a darkly nuanced and intricate tech-house monster, Pan-Pot do more than justice to this remix.

Just Be has been riding a wave of success in the past year and further cements this new incarnation with next installment for the mighty Crosstown Rebels. The massive ‘Don’t Make Me Wait For You’, featuring Jesse Monroe is a wonky slice of pent up tension and swelling moods, reminiscent of proto garage house classics with a touch of modern slinkiness. Launching his career as Matthew B in the midst of the UK acid house explosion, Just Be’s identity and sound has undertaken many a metamorphosis, from Bushwacka!, The End Soundsystem, to Layo and Bushwacka! and now embarking on the ambitious solo project JUST BE.

Subb-an has recently been on tour with the Rebels celebrating 10 years of the historic label. With an album forthcomngg on Crosstown and huge releases on labels such as Visionquest, Spectral Sound and his own One Records. His hectic touring schedule is testament to the steep rise of this underground star and seminal gigs are lined up this year at the likes of Panorama Bar and DC10.
