yeah. definitely on the darker side, yet there is some of the "classic" "weird" grevusanjl quirkyness in it, i'd say. and man, what can someone add - realized (again) the past weeks, that this planet moans under the heavy load humans put on it - we are simply too many and too toxic for this enviroment, honestly

Good morning my SC friends. 

So… this is now a thing I created. o.o

Turns out, I had a few pints of bitter ennui that were about to expire (hidden in the wine cellar of my soul). And rather than letting it go to waste, I decided to uncork the whole lot. 

Needless to say, it proved quite fumigating. And when I woke from the haze and daze of the experience… this track was the surprising end result of breathing in those iffy gasses. 

All snark aside, it was actually quite cathartic, creating something so… apocalyptic (for me). My wife and I have always laughed at the fact that, even though I was a huge fan of industrial/goth (Front 242, Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, etc.) in my youth… my personal creations surprisingly never went that dark. ‘Blues Clues does a cover of Bauhaus’ was about as close as I could get.

But over the last few years, my headspace has changed a wee bit (and I’m sure many of you are in the same boat). It’s as if the happier sounds seem a little out of touch with reality these days. And I’m not saying I don’t want to return to those spaces ever again. But I am discovering that my music flows more naturally, if I honor whatever comes of it (rather than trying to run everything through the taffy pull of insincere chipperness).

So I guess the moral of this story might be… if you are feeling stressed/depressed/angry/afraid, those emotions provide a great opportunity for growth, if you channel them into something creative. Nothing helps me process my emotions better than a deep dive into self reflective writing, or creating smart-ass art, or sculpting a song with some sharper edges. It’s like the old saying goes… if you don’t go within, you go without. And oppressed and buried feelings and emotions will only fester over time. Plus, it’s amazing how often that self-made monster in the closet turns out to be nothing more than a giant dust bunny… when you shine a light on it.
