DIS071 Heralds the return of the one and only Halogenix, a personal favourite of all of us here at Dispatch and a producer that has over the last few years made a massive impact as part of the critically acclaimed Ivy Lab.

Halogenix is of course himself a greatly accomplished producer within his own right and here we see him return with four solo outings that illustrate just how on point he is on his own with the issue of an E.P that really highlights his own individual flexibility and versatility across the complete release, each track within its own right showing how confidently Halogenix can stride and transcend the different corners of the genre to deliver stunning results with the finest attention to detail and all hand stamped together with his own unique sound.

The E.P weaves its way through an emotive journey of accomplished musical depth, starting with the emotionally charged vocal of “Take the Lead” ft Zoe Klink, through to the 80’s Chicago-esque tinged vibes of “Each his Own” and then finally rolling out with the chilled blissful finale of “Up & Down”.

Adding to the E.P we have added the instrumental version of “Take the Lead” as a bonus digital exclusive, rounding off what we feel is a bold, diverse, standout E.P from one of the most exciting producers of our genre today

On Friday 6th June, the Dutch drum & bass producer, Lenzman, will toast the release of his Looking At The Stars album live in Room One. Released on Goldie’s inimitable Metalheadz label the fifteen track long player explores the Amsterdam based maestro’s brew of overtly musical, soulful blend of d&b. Saying “I wanted this album to be personal more than anything,” Lenzman’s certainly created a balanced album that fully reflects the spectrum of human emotion, [as the press release puts it] “from introspection to confidence and doubt”.

We’ll be catching up with Lenzman in depth and proper next week, but for now he’s pre-empted the interview, his album and the launch party by bestowing on us a 33 minute mix that includes and highlights the potency of a few upcoming cuts from Looking At The Stars…

The next release on E-Motion Records sees us very proudly welcome two new faces to the team, Kelle & Juha. Whether you know them for their face melting, dark neurofunk on Disturbed Recordings or their dance floor orientated releases on Ram’s sister label Program, these lads have a pretty hefty back catalogue and we are more than happy to be making an addition to it. 

Their debut on E-Motion really highlights the duos versatility as a production outlet, as they focus more on the liquid, musical side of the genre with 2 beautifully crafted tracks entitled Mystery & Snowflakes.

First up, Mystery, a stunning piece of music reminiscent of that early Calibre sound we all know and love. Sublime keys float over warm sub bass notes as dream like vocal edits bellow in the background.

The flip side, Snowflakes, sees the duo continue on their journey of elegance with another stunningly formulated slice of Drum & Bass. Strings, guitar and piano combine to create elegant atmospherics, whilst the slick, sharp drums and resounding sub bass lay the foundations, all of which wrap up another fine release on E-Motion Records.

Mars Recordings is quietly building it's reputation for solid soulful d&b and this latest effort could eclipse them all. dRamatic & dbAudio released 'Far Away' with Grimm on vocals in the spring and we were all excited when Total science agreed to remix it. Their version is really breathtaking and will no doubt be supported by more than the list who already are, notably Friction & Marky. This could be a future classic. Flip for "Days runnin out" which is a classy rolling liquid tune taking you back 10 years when this sound really blew up. Release date for this 12" is 29/10/12

The label was born in September 2010 by Clive Psylence who runs Ingredients records. He wanted a label that had a particular sound trying to push the more soulful / liquid sounds again. Part 1 of the Sounds Of The Innerground album comes to life here with two summer rollers from two acts who have not only DnB, but also Innerground DNA coursing through their systems.

Featuring as part of the forthcoming FABRICLIVE compilation, the A-Side houses DnB king, Calibre's remix of DJ Marky & S.P.Y.'s 2012 smash, Yellow Shoes. The track has a simple, yet charismatic sound that is altogether Calibre with clever use of the samples to make something new, but still true to the original.

USA's Submorphics wraps things up on the B-Side with "Summer Soul", a track that is on heavy rotation in DJ Marky's record box at the moment. This aptly named track is one that forces you to reminisce about all those hazy, glory days of summer. Simple floaty male vocals, big sub bass and tight percussion make it perfect for the club, car, home or headphones.
