Grey Skies Ahead are five musicians from Austria and Germany whose sound is characterised by a mix of post-rock and modern metal.

The band was founded in autumn 2011 in Graz.
Their songs are characterised by the musical goal of sounding varied and authentic. Catchy melodies meet complex rhythms and heavy guitar riffs, combined with calm passages that allow the listener to take a breath and drift off into another world.

After the release of their first EP Katharsis in 2016, the band returned to the studio in 2017 to record their debut album. Panacea was released in 2019.

On their first records, the music of Grey Skies Ahead was kept purely instrumental. Since the beginning of 2021, the songs have been completed by the vocals of a new member on the microphone - vocals that remain true to the band‘s musical vision and alternate between calm clean passages, rocking sounds and aggressive shouts.

In the summer of 2023, the band went back into the studio to start recording the next album. The band‘s sound has grown and heavy, groovy walls of guitars dominate the new sound. Despite the new heaviness, the 5 musicians have remained true to their roots.

The new tracks also feature dreamy and catchy guitar melodies. But the next soundwall of heavy guitars is always just a few bars away, ready to take the listener back into the depths.
