Here I Am And Here Be Danger

Why do some old 7-inch singles sound so good, when slowed down to 33rpm? An experimental feature for ABC RN's Radiotonic.

On dark evenings, when the rain is pouring down, getting out and going to a choir rehearsal can be an effort, as verified by every choir in the Limerick In Tune series. But once you are there, the unanimous verdict is that is absolutely worth that effort, and by the time you’re heading home, your spirits are lifted as you hum in the car! This is never more true than in the case of the  ‘Something To Sing About’ choir.  Based in the Cancer Information and Support Centre in University Hospital Limerick, the group is part of a global choir of cancer survivors. The choir is cosy and welcoming, and is based around the sheer joy of music, as well as the camaraderie and fun that comes with singing together. 

"Limerick in Tune" is recorded and produced by Mary McDonnell and Diarmuid McIntyre of Grey Heron Media. The Series was first broadcast on Limerick's Live95FM in Autumn & Winter of 2016. It was funded by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland with the Television Licence fee.

"Solstice" was written, and produced by Diarmuid McIntyre & Mary McDonnell of Grey Heron Media. with recordings by Diarmuid McIntyre, Mairead O'Connor, and Mary McDonnell.
