Nights are coming and going and faces appear and vanish, great plans are made and rarely held up to. While that is the mode that keeps the machine running, from time to time something greater can evolve out this fast paced spare time profession. That is to say, it is a great pleasure to smooth the way for our dear friend »Kleintierschaukel« and his »Blue Elephant«.

A rare species whose origins are found in »Motomia« (A1), that odd place where sticky clocks tick faster than time passes. Still all confusion is lost in the calm whispering of Juliette (A2), a harmony of strange confidence. Despite all its apparent harmlessness, it needs the soothing voice of our all beloved Leonie to let its vast figure withdraw to the rivers and show the gentle nature of this »Unterwassermann« (B1). Back in his element all notches are smoothed out and movements unite in a rythmic flow. This is not a documentary, this is the Blue Elephant: »TV Ende« (B2).

All echoisms aside: We are very happy to have Mr. »Valentin Stip« from Montreal himself contribute his interpretation of »Motomia« (D), a delicate dissection, reunited to a greater interaction of the most gentle kind.

In Hour 2 we hand over to Neil Cowley following the release of 'Spacebound Tapes', a four track EP featuring remixes of his Trio's 'Spacebound Apes' album by Rival Consoles, Throwing Snow, Christian Löffler and Vessels. This also marks the start of a new period for him, going solo from the trio and changing direction music-wise. He had this to say;
"In 2016 I released Spacebound Apes, my sixth studio album which, during it’s creation, morphed from simply a sonic experience into a tale about ‘Lincoln’…. a man in desperate confusion about his past, his present and above all his relationship with his heart. In truth, the character of Lincoln was an echo of my lifelong love affair with the ultimate rebel; Patrick McGoohan’s ‘Number Six’ from ‘The Prisoner’, the greatest TV series ever written! So in this mix I interject my choices with snippets from that inspirational show and use ‘Number 6’s' super heroic character to infuse the mix with a forward motion. Having spent the last 18 months putting a new project together and in many ways reacquainting myself with my electronic heritage, these tunes reflect where my head is at as I burrow deep looking for new kernels to explore. My choices may come as a surprise to some, especially those who expect me to sit firmly in one genre or another and not budge. But my love of music has always been just that….a  love of all MUSIC!"

Grey Paris pulls you into an acoustic reverie of high-powered drums, bass,piano and electronic-cinematic effects.

The Berlin trio Grey Paris presents songs, alive with intricate rhythmic elements, and an understated move-like ambiance. Their compositions carry the lister with undulating ideas through acoustic soundscapes as if in a synaesthetic experience.

Influenced by artists such as E.S.T.. Gogo Penguin, Nils Frahm, and Brandt Brauer Frick, the music of Grey Paris is a mixture of propulsive grooves and meditation-inaction.

“In the music of the Berlin-based trio Grey Paris, classical music instruments meet electronic music and together they create a minimalistic almost film-like atmosphere. The connection of electronic features and emotional piano compositions gives birth to various sound scapes spiced with changing dance rhythms, spherical sounds and electronic experiments.”

The Trio, consisting of piano, bass, drums, and a sophisticated system of live electronics, has collaborated since 2016 and has released 2 albums and several singles. They have played numerous concerts and festivals locally and internationally (including Smida Jazz Festival (RO), 19th Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival (awarded Best Newcomer Jazzband 2019), Jazz in the Park Competition Romania (Best Club Band Award), Piano Day (DE), Kantine am Berghain, B-flat, and B’jazz Burghausen, to name a few).

“They characterize their music as “cinematic electroacoustic jazz” and the truth is that the sound landscapes they make through enchanting, minimal and trance echoryhtms are creating images so powerful that they are one of the most unique modern jazz groups.”

After the album “Medea” and the following tour in 2019, Grey Paris used the tour pause of 2020/21 to intensively develop and write new pieces. The resulting EP "Lee Waves" will be out in February 2023.
