For this next episode of Sonar Kollektiv Radio we're having Palo Santo Discos & Coco Maria bringing some latin gems to Berlin. Hailing from 's-Hertogenbosch in the south of Holland with a recordbag filled with music from all continents. This Dutch selector has found himself specializing in almost everything obscure, exciting and close to the equator. With shelfs ranging from Brazilian crooners, Turkish Anatolian Psych, late 60's Jamaican Dub and African moog virtuosos.

Coco Maria is a colorful lady from the north of Mexico shaking down the Berlin scene with her classy and funky record collection mainly from Colombia, Brazil and Peru. Her upbeat selection will at the very least put a smile on your face.

Sonar Kollektiv Radio 10 – Palo Santo & Coco Maria

In Hour 2 we hand over to Neil Cowley following the release of 'Spacebound Tapes', a four track EP featuring remixes of his Trio's 'Spacebound Apes' album by Rival Consoles, Throwing Snow, Christian Löffler and Vessels. This also marks the start of a new period for him, going solo from the trio and changing direction music-wise. He had this to say;
"In 2016 I released Spacebound Apes, my sixth studio album which, during it’s creation, morphed from simply a sonic experience into a tale about ‘Lincoln’…. a man in desperate confusion about his past, his present and above all his relationship with his heart. In truth, the character of Lincoln was an echo of my lifelong love affair with the ultimate rebel; Patrick McGoohan’s ‘Number Six’ from ‘The Prisoner’, the greatest TV series ever written! So in this mix I interject my choices with snippets from that inspirational show and use ‘Number 6’s' super heroic character to infuse the mix with a forward motion. Having spent the last 18 months putting a new project together and in many ways reacquainting myself with my electronic heritage, these tunes reflect where my head is at as I burrow deep looking for new kernels to explore. My choices may come as a surprise to some, especially those who expect me to sit firmly in one genre or another and not budge. But my love of music has always been just that….a  love of all MUSIC!"

England is a divided and deluded Babylonian mess right now but I choose to take the glass half full approach and celebrate a heap of UK reggaematical tackle from back in the days of the Miner’s Strike and Rock Against Racism, up to right now times.
 
This isn’t meant to be comprehensive, chronological, going particularly ‘deep' or even inclusive. Just some killer tunes and personal favourites. For every one included I left out a bunch, so if anyone wants a Volume 2, speak up.
 
Through all this present day nonsense and shittery, it’s wise to remember tough times produce great tunes and the best art.

Chris 'Free The Robots' Alfaro created this rich vinyl mix about a week ago, that is a week before when I am uploading this, which is around Midnight between May 31 into June 1st 2020. From the get go you too may be asking just like the mix how you can't understand why the world world is pulling you, me, and everyone .. down. Take this and vibe, if there was a way to turn your off phone for a hour and still listen to this, I'd certainly suggest that. Go screenless. Get a blank page and get to work. Stare out into the sky alone on a roof, in a field, in an alley, towards water, towards something where you see no other human beings. Or run and lift, till you can't do no more push-ups. Smoke a huge blunt and pull the covers so far over your head the rest of the world will never be able to find you. But I can hopefully attempt to assure you that by the end of FTR's mix, you may have earned some new spectre of hope. Than apply that to helping someone, multiple that time and time again, while listening to this, and we just might some small semblance of progress as human kind.
