In 2001, Regensburg-based Markus Guentner and Affin’s Joachim Spieth first crossed  paths through their contributions to Kompakt’s Pop Ambient series. Their creative  synergy resurfaces with ‘Overlay,' a six-track album that amalgamates decades of their  distinctive styles - a harmonious blend of Guentner's ethereal, atmospheric textures  and Spieth's pulsating rhythms.  

“We envisioned a process akin to masking and unveiling, revealing certain elements  while fading others, mirroring the essence of the album titles themselves. This  reflects how we approached the audio material, a philosophy extended to our album.  This collaboration thrived on a foundation of trust, cultivated organically, much like  our previous joint endeavors. Musically, we entrust each other almost instinctively”.
  
With meticulously crafted tracks showcasing their artistry in creating evocative sonic  landscapes, this release marks the inaugural entry in a series of collaborative works  by the duo. 

"With this album, the flow of things knows no distinct start or finish—rather, it's a  continuous stream of material in motion." 

'Overlay' will be released digitally and on a limited edition CD on November 3 via  Spieth's Affin Records.

Joss makes an impressive debut on Greyscale's Mood Series with Kaap, a finely-tuned four-track EP that showcases his ability to craft intricate and emotive dub techno. Each track is a testament to Joss's attention to detail and his ability to evoke atmosphere. The opener, 'Tayla's Place (Anfield)', has a measured groove and flowing chord progressions. The low-end anchors the track, while subtle melodic layers emerge and evolve, creating a compelling build that feels both rewarding and complete. 'Egoli' shifts gears, introducing a sharper, more tech-forward rhythm. Its interplay of pulsating beats and shimmering chord stabs captures a hypnotic energy perfect for late-night dancefloors. The track's fluidity and drive make it an undeniable standout for movement. With 'Lido', Joss takes listeners on a deeper, more introspective journey. It's unusual percussive elements and subtly foreboding tonal shifts add a cinematic edge, while the evolving textures keep the listener locked into its immersive soundscape. This is the second 12” EP that closes The Avantroots Dub Techno Compilation ESPECTRUM II

The first track from Pulshar since 2018, “Accept Fate”, is a dreamy ambient dub track with a heavy reggae dub influence that could work as the background sound for an eerie island.

Biodub’s “Unterfluss” is an ambient dub track that evolves progressively and drags you into a restless and magnetic atmosphere.

The dusty, uneasy and strangely sexy “Spacechord” from Heavenchord is an hypnotic ambient dub track inherited from dense atmospheres.

And to close this excellent compilation, none other than Julian Perez delivering an impeccable and elegant dub techno track to fill the dance floor with class.
