A dear friend of the festival, whose musical craftsmanship leaves us in awe every time. In June, he guided the Above Below audience through dusk, with a blissful live set, a welcomed embrace, as we prepared for one final night of dancing.

TM Shuffle is more than just a name in the international dub techno scene. The Finnish producer, DJ, and head of VUO Records has a rare talent for distilling the essence of depth, space, and rhythm into his productions. His music is infused with a hypnotic pulse that doesn’t shout loudly but tells stories subtly – of snow-covered landscapes, quiet nights, and an unwavering love for electronic music. What sets TM Shuffle apart is his uncompromising dedication to reduction. His musical philosophy is not about quantity but quality: less is more. By deliberately limiting himself, he becomes more creative – digging deep, searching intentionally for the right sound, and developing a distinct musical signature. This principle is evident not only in his productions but also in his thoughtfully crafted, driving DJ sets.

He shares this passion off stage as well: as the label head of VUO Records, he provides a platform for other artists who share his vision of dub techno – raw, organic, and timeless.

In a personal conversation with Andre Kronert, TM Shuffle offers insight into his creative workflow and studio philosophy. In a world of unlimited possibilities, he consciously relies on a minimalist setup: turntables, a mixer, a few select synthesizers, drum machines, and a computer for sequencing. The release opens with Heaven INC.'s original Fall To Pieces, a dreamy, melodic progressive house cut that blends lush atmospheres with emotive grooves. Ákos Győrfy follows up with a deeper, more introspective remix, offering a nuanced take that dives into the subtle side of the genre. Like shadows cast by floodlights on concrete walls, these tracks echo into space. Each piece is a diary in dub techno rhythm: where the bass doesn’t just play — it breathes. Where echo knows more than the voice. Where time flows in reverse — through Delay, through Reverb, through Memory.
