Decided to post this mix that I submitted to Bass Coast Festival for consideration. It seemed especially auspicious because today is the Lunar New Year (aka Chinese New Year of the Wooden Horse), a new moon and venus went direct. It's the beginning of a new cycle in my life and seemed like a fitting moment to drop a mix. Can't believe I haven't posted one since this summer. Hope ya'll enjoy. The What You Sample / I Eat Beats EP is Billy Kenny’s first EP on his own co-run imprint, This Ain’t Bristol. Already gaining huge support from all across the board, these two sweetened and fruit-flavoured peak time bangers are accompanied by a juicy remix by non other than Dirtybird’s Ardalan. 

What You Sample’s kit shuffles it’s way into a hypnotic masquerade of melodic 808’s, calming the listener before hitting with some serious grit! This track shows off one of the deadliest reese basses known to mankind like it’s nothing, while keeping it’s cool in-between, creating a seesaw of volume and atmosphere.

After spearheading each of their own unique musical paths, they have joined forces to birth a soulful new electro/acoustic collaboration, merging sounds from around the world in an elaborate artistic love-child of beats, voice, banjo and bass. "Soul Visions" is their first step in the long journey of bringing together electronic music and soul, folk and ballads, bass rhythms and swamp-womp in an effort to bridge worlds through aural exploration. "Soul Visions" speaks to the lover and the dance floor, the ritual holder and the song collector and the visionary and the shadow-worker... bringing deep root sounds into a highly mechanical world.

griff is one of Australia’s leading purveyors of highly varied and unique bass music.  Since 2009, griff has created many LPs, EPs and remixes, released on renowned labels such as Omelette, Addictech, Enig'Matik Records, Slurp Music and Buxton Records.  

As an assistant engineer at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne, Australia he worked on albums by The Cat Empire, The Jon Butler Trio, Blue King Brown, The Dirty Three and many more. 

Playing his original compositions and DJing all manner of styles and genres he has toured the world moving crowds at festivals such as Shambhala Music Festival in Canada, Boom in Portugal, Symbiosis and Burning Man in the US and Rainbow Serpent Festival in his home country of Australia. 

He enjoys laughing and is uncomfortable talking in the 3rd person.
