If you live in The Netherlands you might already know the Wavefiles crew from their events in Club UP (Amsterdam). Over the past few years they have booked artists like Lunice, SAMIYAM and NGUZUNGUZU and to many more to mention. In 2013 they won the award for best party at “Wie is AAN 2013”. Now they are bringing Wavefiles to a next level with their first release on Basserk Records.

As I Am returns to Great Stuff after his 2015 smash release “In To Deep (With You)”, with an even stronger two tracker entitled “Ride On”. These muscular, funk drenched, peak time compositions are made to rock nightclubs and festivals alike. 

Kicking things off with the lustrous “Ride On (Body Movin)” and it’s warm, morphing pads & chords. Those combined with the thick drum programming and driving low frequencies will make this track a sure shot in your sets. The funk-filled, pitched vocals are the icing on this tasty tech house cake. 

“Don’t Stop” is just as energetic but also has a more melodic, deeper side to it. The groove is kept simple and focuses on the essential elements such as a monstrous kick drum and snappy hats and fills. In 1994 this was one of my first international artist remix. Björk had just left her Sugarcubes band to go solo, and she was only mildly know back then. I was commissioned to remix Human Behaviour by Island France who were releasing it domestically. I did 2 sets of mixes and they were grouped on a single promo 12" that was pressed to only 500 copies making it a pretty rare item today. She apparently didn't like the remix much and it stayed commercially unreleased. Luckily for me, I had a chance meeting with David Morales at the time and gave him 2 copies. Months later I was told he and DEF mix partner Frankie Knuckles were killing it in the NY clubs. Thanks to them my name got out of France and it kickstarted my carreer outside of my country.
