Cycles

It Rains Love

Mexicali’s Silent (featuring members of All Leather and Maniqui Lazer) have crept out of relative quietude as of late to share a track— the first new material in over a year to be shared with the public— which just so happens to be a cover of OG goths, The Cure. Full of the wailing guitar and tormented vocals one would hope for and expect with anything Cure-related, the band takes “Prayers for Rain” and gives it a slightly heavier, faster feel that is authentically “Silent” in its approach and tone. We suspect this won’t be the last you’ll hear from them in 2019. 

This track is available for free as a somewhat bleak welcome to the new year, from your friends here at Three One G.

En el fin de año de 1985, el país vivía
aun el terrible aroma de muerte y tristeza causado
por los terribles sismos que azotaron de manera tan
catastrófica a tanta gente. Pocas cosas causaban alguna alegría.
Una de ellas para mi, era el nacimiento de Década 2 y otra fundamental: el lanzamiento del disco de la banda mexicana Techno pop -Casino Shanghai-
Creación de mis maestros y amigos: 
Ulalume Zabala, Walter Schmidt, Humberto Alvarez y Carlos Robledo.
Está por demás hablar de la belleza y propuesta de este disco tan importante en la historia del rock y la música electrónica en México. Hoy 33 años después, el le última noche del 2018  en espera del año nuevo, y tremendamente abrazado por la nostalgia, quiero compartirles una versión muy en demo, e instrumental, pero algo épica de una de las piezas más conocidas de esta enorme agrupación.
Hoy quiero homenajear aquellos tiempos y a ésta gente fabulosa, que tanto aportó a mi vida. Lo hago con toda humildad y respeto, sin embargo he trabajado con mi arsenal más querido de sintetizadores y máquinas.
Que todos pasen una majestuosa noche, 
en espera de grandes éxitos y bendiciones para 2019.

Something special happened to Pip Blom at the tail end of last year. It was a busy twelve months that saw the release of her frenetic EP ‘Pussycat’, two A-Listed singles at 6 Music and support slots to the likes of The Breeders, Franz Ferdinand and Garbage. Capping that off, though, moments before stepping onstage at a sold out Lexington – the London stop-off on her debut UK headline tour – the band put pen to paper and signed to Heavenly Recordings.
