Peachlyfe (they/them) is a hydra-sonic electronic musician that shook & seduced the Copenhagen fast-paced techno scene, claiming their seat along with Endurance and Fast Forward.
Peachlyfe’s productions and live-sets rebelliously weave across genres, trippy melodies cut with heavy slaps while whispering in your ear about the dismantlement of the ‘cistem’. Their EP “All Tits are Real, All Money is Fake, All Hail Satan” is an ode to that anarchic-playfulness, a marvellous feat in blending rave-rush joy and queer defiance.
In early 2022, Peachlyfe releases “Against All Reason” on marum’s and BLEID’s label suspension, a 4-chapter tale through soundscapes of glitch, trancey dunes and euphoria, a vision excitedly in synch with the wave of dancefloor reopenings. 

“Against All Reason 1” opens with a cryptic and urgent sound-manifesto that envelopes the ideas behind this release. Prompted by the central question of Susan Schupli’s documentary “Can the Sun Lie”, Peachlyfe investigates que question of “reason”, a driving-question that appears in previous releases but under different shapes - the cis-hetero patriarchy that dictates which bodies, tits or dixx, expressions or sounds are respectable (or not). Those who challenge such canons are deemed ugly, inferior, swamp monsters. And so what? Against all reason, we love the swamp!

As the tone is set, “Against All Reason 2” blows it all up. The existential question is answered through gallopant beats and progressively euphoric harmonies, nudging the body straight into a glorious dance, followed by “Dance the Day Away” that steps up the parade with their seductive pace overlaid with a mesh of sexy sounds soaked on high-tone energy and joy - undoubtedly the uplifting anthem for 2022 we all needed. 
The deep slow burn “Creature Feature” journeys through looming synths and distant vocal-echoes, eventually jolted with a punching heartbeats, creating an other-worldly trip. The perfect closure of this album that so harmoniously seems to thread conflicting feelings and sounds, making space to cheerfully embrace the unknown, against all reason.

How should the ass look? How should the tits feel? To where should the dixx point, if they ever point?

Your eyes will deceive you! Your ears will deceive you! Your tongue will deceive you!

Do not trust your eyes! Do not trust your eyes! Do not trust your eyes! If they get the chance, they’ll stab you in the front! There are countless examples. Just take a look!

Do not trust your memory! Do not trust your memory! Do not trust your memory! If the right moment comes, It’ll rip out your eyes! Good riddance anyway!

Smell the radio! Listen to the flowers! Taste the music! Dance the day away

Imitate yourself! Imitate others! Imitate an image! It’ll be far more trustworthy than whatever they’re showing through your local window!

Without people like Cashu (@carol-schutzer), São Paulo’s queer community wouldn't be thriving in the way that it is. The Mamba Negra label collective, party and label co-founder has been working tirelessly to provide safe spaces, creative outlets and raise funds for the LGBTQIA+ community for many years. She closely intertwines politics and dancing at events that reclaim urban spaces and now enjoys an international DJ diary that sees her mixing up breaks, techno, dancehall and electro across Amsterdam, Berlin, and places like our own Dekmantel Selectors.

She takes us on a similarly whirlwind tour with this week's mix, including some unreleased gems. It's a full-throttle party selection that fires through several house, club and techno rhythms - some bounce on big bass, some are twisted with raw percussion and some get stripped back to loopy drums and trippy sound designs. These global beats from the likes of DJ Wawa, Nick León, and Lewis Lowe add up to a colourful carnival atmosphere that sounds even better when the sun is shining.
