The summer of 2014, at Kink Studios in Tegelen, Holland, Groove-A-Thon recorded three originals and a cover in one day. The fruitful session was then mixed by Thimo Gijezen and mastered by Gijs van Wel. The EP "3,2,1 . . . Bad Trip" (2015) can be bought through a duo of posters that are sold at the live gigs.

Described by the producer as "naive computer jazz", despite features from two bona fide legends - namely legendary jazz pianist and bandleader Steve Kuhn and Brazilian composer and arranger Arthur Verocai - it's a record that fits perfectly into the label’s expanding take on the modern evolution of jazz music, following outings by Kneebody & Daedelus, Thundercat and Kamasi Washington. If Daft Punk had written their song "Teachers" today, they would most definitely have had to include Herbie Hancock on the list... at least the late 70's version of Herbie that produced the cut edited here. Those crisp disco drums, rubbery bass line and, most noticeably, those talk box vocals, are featured all over their new album! But Herbie was doing it 35 years ago. Here's to the originators!
