Continuing the showcase of the talent behind Koelle & Reza Safinia’s ‘Reverie’ Remixes, we're excited to have Niki Sadeki on the decks for episode 102 of XYZ Selectors. Fresh off her ‘Into The Woods’ release on the label, the Iranian-Canadian producer delivers a mix nothing short of mesmerizing. 

Her take on the original track embraces an upfront arpeggio and a pumping ride cymbal. These core elements offer the backdrop to an arrangement rounded by chimes, lush pads, and counter-melodies, culminating in a dreamy, soothing tune.

This inward trip is also visual - in an ongoing comic parallel world, Husa & Zeyada give center-stage to the more curious and peculiar parts of their selves. In 2016 I went to -now my dear friend, back then only my favorite DJ- Mira's birthday at Kater Blau for the first time. I was super into music, making mixtapes at home, going to so many parties and writing about them but not a DJ yet.

The vibe of the club, the music in all floors, and the fact that Mira is big supporter of female acts and seeing all these badass women playing mind-blowing music at this party had its mark on me.

Watching these legends Mira, Britta, Mimi Love, Mila Stern, Caleesi, I wanted to do it myself and I found the motivation, courage and inspiration because they were also women like me! Representation is so important!

In the following years I kept going to this party for my yearly dose of inspiration and of course fun!

Over the years, inspired by Mira and being colleagues now, we became friends and her impact on my life wasn't just musical. She's such a wise and wholesome person with integrity and the heart in all in the right places, that having her as a friend and inspiration definitely made me a better person and my journey of the new international touring DJ way smoother.

in 2021 I was even supposed to play for Mira's 44th birthday for the first time but the pandemic... (I mean I don't even need to finish this sentence). I ended up playing her 44.5 in Summer, the Ersatz Katzen party :)

Anyway, fast forward to 7 years and the birthday queen not only invited me to play her 46 Katzen party but also gave me the biggest honor of taking over the stage after her.

Playing Thursday in NYC, Friday in Montreal, flying back to Europe on Saturday, Sunday noon I arrived to Berlin like a zombie. Sleep before and after the set is hard but during... Actually not that bad. I was on a dream state throughout my set.

It felt really like a dream playing in a room not too long ago gave me the inspiration to be here today celebrating a women who always lifts others up as she rises. 

I also played music from my label Marginalia, I heard Mira and Mila Stern playing Marginalia too and I also two new artists from Marginalia family, Bakayan and D’aria were In the room when I played their unreleased music! What a moment 
I stayed sleep dancing until late because of all the incredible music

what an honor to play at this unique birthday celebration, I am grateful to life

Here are modern urban myths that stand the test of time and are considered unspoken truths. Nowhere written down, they are passed on from mouth to ear and only exist in people's heads. They persist and are part of the respective culture.
There are also stories like this in the electro scene that fire people's imagination. The parties at Warehouse Chicago in the late 70s are considered the mother of all house parties. Animalistic scenes were said to have taken place there while Frankie Knuckles rained down his marathon sets on the crowd. Pure ecstasy rippled through the bodies of those present and the crowd was no longer made up of individuals, but was one big energy-filled being that had developed an uncontrollable life of its own. A movement emerged that anyone could belong to and which was referred to as "Jack" in later tracks. The urban legend of Jack is still used in tracks and mixtapes today. Of course, this is just one of many myths that have developed in electronic dance music.
Perhaps with the deep story of Pia Pan & Heyoka we will be able to create a new modern myth that will bring people together again and let them melt into ecstasy. A mixtape that fires people's imagination and will be the subject of many myths in the future.

Seit knapp 2-3 Jahren sehr häufig, Prosecco, Sekt oder Weizen 🧡

▌II Welcher Track ist für dich ganz besonders in deinem Set?
Ich achte allgemein immer auf eine schöne Stimmung von Anfang bis zum Ende, dennoch ist das Intro (die ersten 2-3 Tracks) schon mit am wichtigsten (Podcasts), weil es die Leute hoffentlich fesselt 🙃

▌III Wie würdest du deinen Stil selbst beschreiben?
Ich lege jetzt seit knapp 8 Jahren in Clubs & Festivals regelmäßig auf und habe mich auch vom Sound sehr verändert. Angefangen hat damals alles mit Deep House, danach kam dann Afro House & Melodic Techno bis hin zu Techno also schon etwas schneller. Vor knapp 4-5 Jahren habe ich angefangen mit Downtempo Sets was mich sehr inspiriert hat und auch unser Label „KataHaifsch“ zu dem gemacht hat wo wir jetzt vom Sound stehen :).
Im letzten Jahr habe ich sehr viele Indie Dance / Midtempo Sets gespielt. Also häufig immer schön melodisch, basslastig, vielleicht auch manchmal ein etwas sentimentaler Sound der zum Nachdenken & träumen anregt. Und dieses Mal habe ich mich wieder in dem Sound von vor 5-6 Jahren wieder gefunden und mal eine reines Afro House Set aufgenommen. Also ich bin oft sehr vielseitig vom Tempo was mich selber aber auch super glücklich macht, weil man immer wieder was neues entdecken kann und nicht festgefahren ist auf eine Genre.
