My track on the Amniote x Ute Fundraiser Compilation. 
All the proceeds will be donated to The Red Van: a volunteer-run NGO working with harm reduction and human rights for street based sex workers in Copenhagen.

"Sidewinder" is my reptilian alias for Mama Snake's label, Amniote Editions. All artists are invited to create their own reptilian alter ego for the project. My last release there was the "Ripple Effect" EP in 2019. I first met her in Autumn 2018 in Copenhagen to play at Jolene, as well as attend in-person sessions for the mastering+lacquer cut for the record. We mastered with Joel at Six Bit Deep and cut the lacquer with Hari (HVAD) at Kommunal Dubplate. Proper stuff. Few weeks later we shared the lineup on Sustain Release Festival in NYC, it was all a blast. 

I had the pleasure to first meet the Ute crew in Spring 2019, playing their club night at Blå in Oslo. Already had a good feeling when they picked me up from the airport and were playing Global Communication while driving through misty evergreen trees. Oslo freakishly reminded me a lot of my hometown of Seattle, just a bit less mountainous and hilly. That summer, we shared a lineup in Säule Berghain and at the end of season I was invited to play at one of their forest parties (bless) alongside their residents and Alpha Tracks - it was a really fun run! :~)

D.Dan launches his own label, summerpup, as a home for his unique blend of deep, groovy, rolling sounds steeped in psychedelia. The label’s playful name and mantra derives from heritage knowledge from his Korean roots passed down by his mother, based on his time of birth.

I find this just too long to delay getting the music out to the people, so I have decided to go forth with releasing the digital files now, with the vinyl to come next year when production has finished. Following outings on Rinse FM and HOR, German producer Rove Ranger takes aim on the next release of Lobster Theremin’s full-blooded techno assault; 4 very different cuts of pulsating, bass-driven techno that have one eye in the rear view mirror and the other firmly fixated ahead.

‘CS80’ is an aquatic, rhythmic experience; bubbling with blues, greens and pinks in a techno climate so often associated with grey. A beautiful blend of the new and old school. Tough, but with a touch of soul. ‘Millennial Millenium’ is a blissful trip through neighbouring underworlds and spirit hollows, unrelenting kicks and ghostly atmospherics crafting a cut of psychedelic graveyard techno.

‘La Manana’ is more of a heads-down affair. Punchy bass accompanies the kicks on a track that instantly captivates; less concerned with emotion and more with increasing heart rates; it's a tripped-out, bouncy experience that screams fun. The EP is rounded off with ‘Horse On Acid’. Have you ever seen a horse on acid? We have, and this is exactly what it sounded like.

D.Dan - sequence.01 (PUP003)

Pure whimmery, this one; the urge to create some music using just vanilla Music 2000, no external samples or post production (beyond stitching recordings together), struck me like a hammer. So I capitulated; what you hear here is going to be (hopefully) the first track for an EP of Raw M2K Jams. Part of the idea with it is effectively an extension of what I started with Our Home (Access The Memory At Random)- a desire to "get back to my roots" a bit and create stuff similar to the music I used to make back when I was starting out, at least texturally, as well as more broadly harkening back to the days of the TIMGUL community or the Music 2000 userbase spread across YouTube- when it was obvious the tools we chose to use were behind the curve of what modern DAWs could accomplish even back then (and definitely now), but our passion for the software far outweighed any limitations that put upon us.

It being another entry in my Mind Numbing series of deliberately "minimal"/loop heavy/repetitive tracks was also done on a whim- As I've said before, I'm very neurotic about my songs being "boring" so I'm always varying things up every set number of bars and introducing new elements or whatever, potentially over complicating tracks that don't always need to be overly complex. Doing songs like these- even if the appeal is much narrower- is a good way to fight against that. Of course, this is still not as minimal or stripped back as it could be- none of the Mind Numbing tracks have been- but hey ho. The song, in part, owes some degree of inspiration to the work of 909state/AcidGelge, with their track Piano Lesson ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv2D39TT0hE ) in particular being at the forefront of my mind (and a personal favourite of mine from their back catalogue).

The genre of the tracks for the EP will likely vary/have no real hard set format to them- again, kind of just going on whim and where the muse takes me. The alias for this EP is also new (and should be pronounced "original machine" bee tee dubs).
