Born on a small cattle farm in Celeste, Texas, Josh Wright’s journey from rural roots to national stages is a powerful story of faith, perseverance, and purpose. First recognized for his voice at just 2 years old in his hometown church, Josh was raised in a music household where evenings were filled with soaring hymns and Southern Gospel classics with his father Richard around a century-old piano. Though his town had no formal music program, Josh pursued piano and voice relentlessly—skills that would lay the foundation for a lifelong calling.
Josh’s faith was tested early when he lost his father to cancer at 17, just days into his senior year of high school. He went on to graduate valedictorian and earn a Bachelor of Music degree from Belmont University in Nashville, where he studied songwriting, performance, and music business. With the backing of Belmont, Josh appeared in seven university showcases, shared the stage alongside Christian Music Icons Amy Grant and Steven Curtis Chapman, joined Dolly Parton for the grand opening of the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, and sang the National Anthem for the Vice President of the United States.
After a season of personal struggle and deep spiritual growth—including time spent in CeCe Winans’ living room for Discipleship Ministry School which later became his home church of over thirteen years—Josh made it to the Top 20 Males on American Idol Season 12. Yet, just as his career began to rise, tragedy struck again with the unexpected sudden loss of his younger, sixteen-year-old brother Jordan in a car accident. He then stepped away from the artist spotlight to heal and seek God more deeply. 
Over the past decade, Josh has been a foundational worship leader at Nashville Life Christian Church and a key voice in its mission to “Follow Jesus and Build Leaders.” In 2024, after years of refinement, he felt God calling him back to music. That call birthed a string of singles and his debut album set to launch in 2025 with the flagship single, The Fall. With over five million streams to date, a debut radio single, plus international worship leadership, he has reached global audiences from the U.S. to Israel.
Now based in Brentwood, Tennessee, Josh continues to write, lead worship, and create with renewed passion. His life and music proclaim that joy is a choice, Jesus is the only answer, and God’s perfect love really does cast out all fear.
