LeapFrog LeapPad - Leap into Learning - Our Town Band: The 3 Songs

This is the first song in the Sections of the Band pages from "Leap Into Learning" + "A Collection from the LeapPad Library".  (Of course, when I got the time, I may do the full version of the song with LeapFrog's Leap-font and combine it with that audio, so it's truly complete, once my friend 音源IC (OC2608 on Reddit) completes the Soundfont!) 

"Stars and Stripes Forever" is a patriotic American march written and composed by John Philip Sousa. By a 1987 act of the U.S. Congress, it is the official National March of the United States of America.

In his 1928 autobiography, Marching Along, Sousa wrote that he composed the march on Christmas Day, 1896. He was on board an ocean liner on his way home from a vacation with his wife in Europe and had just learned of the recent death of David Blakely, the manager of the Sousa Band. He composed the march in his head and committed the notes to paper on arrival in the United States.  It was first performed at Willow Grove Park, just outside Philadelphia, on May 14, 1897, and was immediately greeted with enthusiasm.  Following an Act of Congress in 1987, it was officially adopted as the national march of the United States of America.

Historically, in show business and particularly in theater and the circus, this piece is called "the Disaster March." In the early 20th century, when it was common for theaters and circuses to have house bands, this march was a traditional code signaling a life-threatening emergency. It subtly notified personnel of emergency situations and ideally allowed them to organize the audience's exit without causing the chaos and panic that an overt declaration might. Except for impending disaster, circus bands never played the tune under any circumstances. One memorable example of its use was during the Hartford circus fire of July 6, 1944. At least 168 people were killed, though some estimates are much higher.

LeapPad - Leap Into Learning - Stars & Stripes Forever (Our Town Band)

This is the second song in the Sections of the Band pages from "Leap Into Learning" + "A Collection from the LeapPad Library". 

"America the Beautiful" is a patriotic American song. Its lyrics were written by Katharine Lee Bates and its music was composed by church organist and choirmaster Samuel A. Ward at Grace Episcopal Church in Newark, New Jersey.

Bates wrote the words as a poem originally entitled "Pikes Peak". It was first published in the Fourth of July 1895 edition of the church periodical, The Congregationalist. It was at that time that the poem was first entitled "America".

Ward had initially composed the song's melody in 1882 to accompany lyrics to "Materna", basis of the hymn, "O Mother dear, Jerusalem", though the hymn was not first published until 1892. The combination of Ward's melody and Bates's poem was first entitled "America the Beautiful" in 1910. The song is one of the most popular of the many U.S. patriotic songs.

LeapPad - Leap Into Learning - America the Beautiful (Our Town Band)

This is the third and final song in the Sections of the Band pages from "Leap Into Learning" + "A Collection from the LeapPad Library". (This is the inspiration for "The Wide Wide Ocean" from 'Mario Party' and "Stage Theme 1" from 'Milon's Secret Castle' everytime I hear this song now.)

"Take Me Out to the Ball Game" is a 1908 Tin Pan Alley song by Jack Norworth and Albert Von Tilzer which has become the unofficial anthem of North American baseball, although neither of its authors had attended a game prior to writing the song. The song's chorus is traditionally sung during the middle of the seventh inning (or in doubleheaders, fifth) of a baseball game. Fans are generally encouraged to sing along to this baseball anthem.

Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks, 
I don’t care if I'd ever get back.

If they don't win, it's a shame.
