These are just a few of my favorite pieces from flat.  There are so many more id like to include and i might add them in time, but this is just the first few i could find.  Flat has so many different pieces that are all amazing, but i hope you enjoy them as much as i do!

A Robot Falls In Love

I've been trying to write this song for months. I moved and shifted the melodies around, trying to fit them into pieces they really didn't belong. I arrived here, at a simple piano and cello duet. No mass string orchestra, no rock band style. I think it shows better this way. I have never been suicidal, please don't fret over something like that, this piece is just emotional. When I wrote this, it was about my feelings in the moment, today, it's about me looking back. Life is a constant pendulum swinging from highs to lows, and back again. There were times where I felt my string had snapped, I was at the lowest of low points. I was at the edge of my breaking point, and I couldn't allow myself to sink so low. This song is all about those moments, where it seemed my reality would crash down on top of me. Thanks so much for listening, it means the world to me.

At The Edge

For years, the people of Ausea have feared the rising power of their King, David. He is a powerful wizard, and when he took the throne he was generous, and willing to understand the voice of the people. As time went on, he has become more corrupt, more demanding and ruthless of the people he controls. In the small town of Creed, a young boy named Enzo has been quietly making a name for himself as a young wizard. Taught by his grandfather Astrid, the boy has become increasingly better at understanding this power. At just 10 years of age, he won his first duel with another wizard. The last person to do this was King Dave himself. It was a moonlight night when the king ordered his militia to burn the neighboring village, Grund, to the ground. Right then and there, Astrid realized the decision he must make, someone needed to defeat the king, for the good of the world. Was he willing to risk his own grandson’s life that way? Enzo seemed ready to take the world by storm and save the kingdom he loved, but he would be no match for a wizard like David.

So this song wasn't really made by me, but by Madison Salsbury. It was originally a piano only piece, but it entranced me and I couldn't help myself, and put in an orchestra(and then percussion). It turned into one of the most amazing songs I feel I have ever written.

Sundown (Groovy Arrangement)

This piece is a collaboration with Rory Cannon (@user-102259552). While we both worked on most of it, we have some different ideas about where it could (or should) end up. The final published version (on Flat) will undoubtedly be better.

Most obviously (and literally), I rely heavily on ostinatos in this score (and in general), but I also keep things moving all the time – heading right back to where they began.

This piece also represents the arc of my compositions on Flat (so far): from my fairy tale to Starship Adventures, from my Mountains Suite to my recent affection for piano solos and duets. A little of each of those moments or moods is in here.

Finally, and most importantly, this score is a love story. In the best cases, marriages are long, and I’ve been married to Anna since before many (most?) of you were born. Seventeen years of near constant change, and plenty of turmoil, but one thing has been constant throughout, and for that I am grateful.

Out of anger comes beauty.

I was pretty pissed off when I started working on this score back in January. But then something happened, and it turned into so much more than I could ever have hoped for.

Of course, the best thing that happened to it was @quantumjoss, with whom every collaboration is an absolute joy.

This song is easily one of my favorites, and I hope you understand why.
