The Morning Sun

A gospel tune I learned as Sacred Harp. Recorded in the open air in the park with no overdubs. Instrumentation was a three piece with standup bass, trumpet, and bottleneck guitar/vocals.

Ive been playing about with Open D tuning... and this is the result. Bit of a bedroom demo but let me know what you think

Cherry Blossom
Try to sing yourself to sleep / Try to always make that reach
Turn the hand, the flaming glove / Always whispers what it should
Take hold of the ash stained sword / The dragon flies, the ocean roars
The Hail falls upon the beach / Smoke rises high, we’re cheek to cheek
Crimson eyes and blooded nose / Glistening bright with shades of rose
Walk the path where day meets night/ Always staying just in the light
I’ve seen the cherry blossom grow / I’ve fought the tide, I dug the snow
Parted mountains with my hand / Walked on the sea, I drank the land 

I can see why you wouldn’t really want me to
I can kind of understand, you can’t meet with my demands

The lake is still, the wind it flows / Don’t think I’ve ever been so close
The blossom drops down on me / under nether this cherry tree
A kind of itch, an untold yearn / If looks could kill you’d burn the world
And take it with you to the deep / It suffocates, it cannot breathe

At which point I rode a wheelie all the way home......
