Soviet Grail presents the long-awaited, extended and official reissue on limited edition vinyl of the self-titled album of the Kazakh vocal-instrumental ensemble Dos-Mukasan, which has become a holy grail for sophisticated diggers and record collectors from all over the world. 

The average cost of the original record on the secondary market is 500 euros. And it is no accident... After all, the album is one of the few examples of exotic and psychedelic sound of the day where foggy and beatiful vocal arrangements are interwined with fuzz guitars refs, and drum beats are carried out in unison with their broken rhytms. Reissue from Soviet Grail provides an excellent opportunity to finally enjoy this album from beginning to end in the best and most accessible form.

Birdsong and bright mornings announce the arrival of spring, and Growing Bin celebrate the season of rebirth with the return of a hardy perennial. In the three years since he introduced the world to his Baltic Beat, Bartos Kruczynski has  traded dub techno, Berlin electronics and jazzy Balearic on a string of highly regarded labels. Now the Polish musician is back in the Growing Bin, ready to take us on another audio adventure through the meadows and forests of his native land.

Vivid LP opener ‘Pastoral Sequences’ leads us down the garden path, around the lakeside and across the train tracks, striking a cinematic tone as gentle piano and subdued synth tones drift around natural field recordings. Dip a toe in the stream and feel the breeze between your fingers as you stroll towards the Balearic brilliance of ‘In the Garden’, a carefree cooler built on a subtle bossa rhythm, serene chords and chiming mallets. Bartosz reprises the aquatic grandeur of his first Baltic Beat on the immersive ‘Petals’, a selected ambient work where Tangerine pads underpin interlocking electronics and stately keys. Guitars ring out, Reich’s mallets ripple and well tempered piano drift over a thick sequence as ‘Voices’ propels us to the halfway point with soft power.

The B-side opens with the delicate hypnotism of ‘If You Go Down In The Woods Today’, a modern minimalist masterpiece alive with circular mallets and sultry woodwind, before ‘The Orchard’ paints an impressionistic vignette from the same palette. Shifting focus but not feeling Kruczynski takes us home ‘Along The Sun Drenched Road’ in two stages; the first a gorgeous combination of the acoustic and 
electronic where hints of dub techno sit beneath languid piano notes, the second an eastern tinged reprise of the album’s opening and a welcome return home before the storm breaks.

This mix was recorded at Institut für Zukunft in Leipzig, where we played a four hour opening set. We made some small edits and added some tracks to finalise the mix. There is a magic about playing opening sets, and this night was special in particular — the lights got turned off and we played our first ambient track as a tuft of smoke was blown into club, which remained midair in the middle of the dance floor, like a sculpture — and it slowly vanished. The first guest came in and sat down against the concrete column, listening attentively as more smoke-sculptures formed around him. We were happy to play the first 20 minutes just for him.

There is a place for digging called VKontakte, a Facebook-like social network with millions of pirated tracks where you can find almost anything. Also you can see who uploaded the tracks. And, around 2011-2013, I saw a name “Anton Shmargovich” almost near all music I was looking for. A nerd, ultra-digger, local legend (he’s making very popular ‘OKO’ public group on Facebook and aforementioned VKontakte) and the guy you can meet almost everyday around 20ft Radio in Kyiv (where he has a show called ‘Unaussprechlichen Kulten‘). The music selected carefully for this podcast was recorded between 1970s and 1990s, it spans from percussive Jazz Funk and translucent Minimal Dub to the anxious new-age Boogie and toxic synth Balearica “with lots of unknown masterpieces of unacademic Avant-garde for the romantics with moon hearts”

The Growing Bin may have taken a hiatus for AW18, but don‘t be fooled into thinking this is a deciduous operation; after all the most powerful plantlife grows from below. Moving through the mulch, Basso traces the mycellium network from Hamburg‘s forests to the gentle slopes of Hasenheide, reconnecting with James Booth for the officially first Growing Bin release of 2019, or the first ever Glowing Pin Release.
Emerging from the green house with a heroic dose of wavy caps, the Mancunian export unleashes
A-side sizzler ‚Space Echo Track‘, a little post-minimal magic for the peak time shamans. Built around the
polyrhythmic patter of organic percussion, a touch of UK shuffle and the occasional blast of soundsystem
bass, the track rolls and rattles from start to finish, tailor made for mid-set hypnosis. And while neon
leadlines dance with disorienting sampler vox and papaya whistles summon the ethno-flute melodies,
Booth brings us to a new level of future primitive consciousness, unlocking the Stargate once and for all.
Onto the B-side and we‘re hurtling through galaxies, submerged in the entheogenic frequencies of
‚Locus of Control‘. Shimmering swathes of angelic synth vox and dreamlike pads drift freely, forming a perfect counterbalance to the warp factor thrust and rasping resonance of the wormhole sequences.
Beatless in space, ‚Locus‘ balances ambient techno and acid gurgle, cleansing your synapses like a Sven Väth warm down circa ‚94. 
This is music for the microdosers...

James Booth - Space Echo Track (7.05 Minutes)

Another win for the Glowing Pin as Müller & Wandt drop a fresh new age groover on a killer club dub tip. Elsewhere Phazer Boys, Suzanne Kraft, Philipp Otterbach and River Yarra remix the pscht out of their favourite tracks from ‘Instrumentalmusik..’. Expect Goan hits, cosmic trips, loved up rave and chilled out wave on this flawless five tracker.   
Growing Bin becomes Glowing Pin for the most anticipated rematch of the century. Back at the beginning of 2018, Wolf Müller and Niklas Wandt went head to head for a box office smash, throwing a high school percussion tray, wall of hardware and voodoo skull into the ring for the tribal trip of ‘Instrumentalmusik Von Der Mitte Der World’. 
Now the multi-instrumental duo face off once again, but this time it’s a royal rumble with Phazer Boys, Suzanne Kraft, Phillip Otterbach and River Yarra all bringing the noise to the Glowing Pin.  
Müller and Wandt dominate the action on the A1, playing loose with sampler vox, serene pads and future primitive rhythms on the unreleased ‘Fun Dub’ of the also unreleased ‘Dub Dub’. Imagine Ferris Bueller’s trampoline tumble trading Chicago to the Weissenhof and you’ll sense the mood of this New Age groove. Germany’s number one party dudes, those freaky Phazer Boys take a break from dropping killer Candomblé cuts to reach for the lasers on the A2, taking ‘Ahu’ to another dimension. Dripping in neon body paint and armed with fire poi, the Düsseldorf duo power up progressive house sequences, didgeridoo bass and thumping tribal house percussion for a wall-shaking, speaker-breaking remix.   
The B1 belongs to synth whiz Suzanne Kraft who revels in glistening, gliding glory on an expansive remix of  ‘Auflösung’. Sleek, serene and futuristic, the track shimmers like Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, free from inequality and rendered with the 5D(ub?) majesty of a DMT breakthrough. 
B2 hears Salon associate and serious talent Philipp Otterbach take over on a stripped back and psychedelic post punk dub of ‘Expedition’. Angular bass by Süne Große and a stuttering rhythm underpin astral flourishes and the hazy vocals of Lucas Croon before the African elements begin to move to the forefront. 
Last man standing is Australian outlier River Yarra, who leads us into the Krautback with a chugging dub of ‘Weltraumsandalen’. Lent a lysergic sparkle by a percolating one-note bassline, this slow motion stunner masters perpetual motion amid the eerie echoes of the bush, organic percussion and electronic animal cries fading into the night. Let the pins glow again.
