re:public was established in 2002 (Riga, Latvia).
 
In 2004 was released the debut album 'Strēlniece'. Album included 11 tracks. Songs 'Pūga, Pūga', 'Strēlniece' and 'The Rising Sun' headed charts in various Latvian radio stations. The band received various prizes in different radio and tv shows. The song 'Strēlniece' won the Grand Prix organized by the Latvian Radio Song Music Bank survey, the Latvian Music Record Label Year Award in 2004 won the title of best pop song in 2004, as well as AKKA / LAA Copyright Infinity Award as for the most played song on the Latvian radio stations. The band won The best group and The best debut artist awards in the LNT Music Video Awards 2004.
 
In 2007 was released 2nd studio album 'Atbrīvots'. The album contains 11 songs, including 'Piga tā, 'Tu mani kontrolē', '9. vilnis', Latvia's Eurovision 2007 Final participating song 'Home' and other songs.
 
In May 2011, was shown in cinemas the Pavel Gumennikov film "I Love You, Riga", for which the band wrote most of the soundtracks including the title song with the same title. The song 'I Love You, Riga' was also selected as the 810th Riga anniversary's song.
 
In 2012 the band released 3 songs from the upcoming new album, including 'Janvāris', followed by 'Darīt Šitā? Darīt tā!' feat. Kurt (which the Latvian Babybox organization has taken as their anthem) and a summer song 'Ak mana, mana...'.
