Since it’s launch at The BPM festival at the beginning of the year, Hector’s VL Recordings imprint has be making it’s mark as a fresh breeding ground for some of the finest talent the underground has to offer. To finish off the year as strong as they started, Hector called upon one of London’s finest selectors Seb Zito to host the fourth release of 2016, with his five-track ‘My Sound’ EP.

Seb Zito is best known for his efforts as a core member of one of London’s most treasured event series, Fuse London, where he also acts as the label offshoots main A&R. For his contribution to VL Recordings Seb Zito has created five tracks that that ring true to the trademark sound of his London roots, dating back to the days he cut his teeth on the early garage rave scene in the capital.

Anyone who’s followed Javier Carballo through the years will know that the Spanish producer isn’t the sort of man to make boring music. On the contrary, his subtle but beguiling cuts are always notable for their groovy wares, and from that perspective along his inclusion in the Vatos Locos camp alongside the likes of Hector is a hugely merited one. For his latest release, the Gran Canaria native crops up on the emerging Black Wood imprint. Already making great strides recently courtesy of David Gtronic’s debut EP for the label, the Morning Vibe EP solidifies the label’s reputation as ones to watch. 


Up first is the sounds of the title track. A skeletal track with but a few elements, it’s a clever example of how to do more with less. By the time the sporadic acid lines come into play, the listener is already yearning for more, with the track’s deep undercurrent seeing us to out with some flair. ‘Back for Good’ then scales matters back again A dub track with flavour aplenty, it’s the sort of gem that’d slide in nicely alongside some of Ron & Chez’s treasured Prescription works. A heads-down, minimal track that’s never lacking in sophistication, it opens up the release with some sparkle.


The B-side gets underway courtesy of ’Chunchuneo’, which sees Carballo ramp the atmosphere up a further notch, as he draws on his years of dancefloor dynamism to create a track that’s positively dripping in peak-time up-tempo vibes. A chugging monster of a track that will help elevate the night to heavier planes, that’s for sure. The remix comes at us from Desolat mainstay Yaya, who interprets the original in his own inimitable manner. Bringing the track firmly in the direction of the ‘floor, he adds some glossy synths and a muscular spine that helps beef it up ever further. An EP of many moods, sounds and vibes, Carballo’s latest is a victory for all involved.

23rd of November sees esteemed Italian DJ/producer Luca Donzelli and Ibiza Icon Mar-T team up to deliver their brand new single ‘Tarabaralla’ via WOW! Recordings.

This striking 2 track release sees the dynamic duo join forces once again to continue their fine current form and follow on from their previous endeavours together on labels such as Elrow, Sanity, Moon Harbour, Do Not Sleep, 8Bit, This and That and Hot Creations amongst others.

‘Tarabaralla’ sees the WOW! Recordings label heads serve up a heady concoction dancefloor-ready tech house elements, featuring their trademark percussion-heavy groove, a cleverly manipulated vocal sample, a deep throbbing sub bassline and an abundance of intriguing sound effects.

The original is then followed by a subline remix from the rising UK-based DJ/producer Jansons, who utilises the original’s key elements but takes the record into a completely new direction by injecting a stellar disco / funk flavour.

Prolific Italian artist Yaya takes to his Tamango Records imprint to release his highly anticipated debut album 'You Decide', which is packed with an extensive array of house flavors. Among the new material is 'Lost Beach', an energetic deep house cut with techy textures and a powerful rhythm. 

Since being picked up by Loco Dice and Desolat in 2009, Yaya has moved from strength to strength, releasing via the likes of Cadenza, Be As One, Celesta Recordings, Roush and more. Fusing his African ethnic roots with his Italian upbringing, his sound eclectic sound profile continues to make waves throughout clubland. Now his debut album, his most extensive project to date, showcases his unique approach to dancefloor material.

Yaya had this to say on the vision behind the new material: "It's called ‘You Decide’ because I firmly believe that each one of us is solely responsible for their actions, choices and consequences. All the times of your life, you decide. This album was produced during this past year in different periods and different places: from India to Miami, from Peru to the Maldives, so I hope you can spot where each track takes inspiration from.”

The ‘You Decide’ vinyl is out now, while the digital release is set to drop in December.
