Spacehaul’s music style is unique.

Electronic, eclectic, elaborate soundscapes meld with dance, trance, techno, punk, drum and base, and pop music production.

It’s hard to pin down; sonically complex, rhythmic and engaging. Live drums performances, compliment sequenced percussion while sound effects merge into melodic lines.

So here is a playlist of music that is definitely Not Spacehaul. The tracks in this playlist resonate with my sonic delivery but, they couldn’t be said to relate directly as an influence.

Neil McGuire is a Pittsburgh-based musician, filmmaker, and storyteller whose work blends vivid lyricism, cinematic textures, and an unflinching sense of emotional honesty. Drawing from a background in history, literature, and the raw pulse of everyday life, Neil crafts songs that blur the boundaries between indie rock, dream pop, and alternative folk—each track a fragment of a larger, evolving narrative.

Since first sharing his music online, Neil has built a body of work that reflects both an intimate, confessional voice and a widescreen, atmospheric vision. His compositions often weave together layered guitar lines, moody synths, and vocals that carry the weight of lived experience. Influenced by artists like MGMT, Radiohead, and The Strokes—but defined by his own distinct voice—Neil creates music that invites listeners to step into his inner world.

Beyond music, Neil’s creative output extends to filmmaking and multi-media storytelling, with projects like ELK CREEK showcasing his ability to merge sound, image, and narrative into immersive art. Grüves is a duo of two young songwriters who have been close friends since the 1st grade. Their emotive and atmospheric musical style derives from a fusion of the member's eclectic influences. They have been writing together for 10 years, so much of the material comes from the magic of improvised jams, as well as experiments with instrumentation, song structure, and digital production, which gives each song it's own distinct flavour. When they write music together, there is no leader - it's real democracy. The two collaborate equally in all aspects of the song and it’s production. Grüves bond over their sense of humour and shared passion for exploring and expressing their thoughts and emotions through creation. They are firm believers that, while music is a form of entertainment, it can also be a form of emotionally cure, in their case, to overcome grief and adversity. Caelin, one of the founding members of Grüves, battled strong feelings of derealization and depression for many years. In December of 2014, he took his own life at the young age of 18. The band's first album, "Nocturne" is a concept album based on his struggle, his passing, and the grief that ensued.
Nocturne is currently being played on radio across the United States. Grüves is a passionate and eccentric Canadian duo that is dedicated to bringing their music to the rest of the world.
