After listening to their incredible debut Catalog 1 (C48/Furthur Electronix) and their follow up 1.1 (C48) we were adamant to get the mysterious Cult 48 included in the mix series. Their production fuses ambient, downtempo and IDM with blissful chords and deep rhythmic drums that will transport you away. This is clearly reflected in the mix that they have provided here.

A couple of years after starting the N2MU podcast series, here we are, truly proud to celebrate with you all our 50th one. For such an occasion, we have the great honor of welcoming onboard one of the most notable electro artists in the current electronic scene. Robots and robettes, Chris Roman aka 214 (@214_electro). Renowned electro producer from Seattle who started putting out music almost 20 years ago and his outstanding music has been released on some of the best labels within the genre, Touchin’ Bass, @frustratedfunk, @cpurecords, @klakson-records, or, more recently, his double album Exposure To Winds on @2020visionrecordings. The fineness and elegance along with mighty beatlines are part and parcel of his very own sound. An enchanting crossover between electro and IDM which is actually his distinguishing mark and the cornerstone of this 50th N2MU podcast. A genuine master class on mixing and electro music. Enjoy it!

ASIP is the acronym and DJ name of Ryan Griffin, founder of the A Strangely Isolated Place label and the 9128.live collective listening radio station. Founded in 2008 as a blog, A Strangely Isolated Place has now come to be described as a record label for ‘Ambient adjacent' music and this ethos can be heard as a source of inspiration within many of ASIP’s DJ sets. A Strangely Isolated Place also plays host to the long running isolated mix series, with DJ’ing being a primary source of driving creativity and inspiration for ASIP.

Often choosing to focus on strict concepts that highlight various angles of the music he enjoys, ASIP has gone so far as to reinterpret the KLF's Chill Out, cut-up classic Trance Loops, and depict the three stages of sleeping within his previous mixes online. However, ASIP live DJ sets are often more free-flowing; traversing many styles, and focus on the attentive side of Ambient music: lean-in, emphasizing narrative, versus the background music you come to expect with Ambient. 

Founded in the UK, but since relocating to the USA in 2013, ASIP and the label HQ can now be found hiding in Los Angeles.

His DJ sets are journeys into the varied shades and tones of dance music. His live sets fuse dub techno, electro and ambience.

Paul has released music on Exalt Records, Diffuse Reality, Roulette Rekordz, Pulse State, CyberSoul and his own labels Hierophant Dubs & Hierophant Records. Forthcoming music for 2024 includes the final part of the Watching the Decoys trilogy and other music for old friends and new labels; the journey continues...

Paul also hosts the “State of Play” radio show, broadcast monthly on @threadsradio and existing on (and off) air since 1990, ad-hoc but always focused on “electronics with soul and soulful electronics”.

As with all my live sets, there’s a lot of improvisation involved and I strive to make the music varied and immersive so we can go on a deep journey with our emotions and bodies.
