Hi everyone and welcome to my SoundCloud page.  I'm a primarily classical guitarist with a few other musical tricks up my sleeve living in Williamsburg, VA and performing throughout the mid east coast region.  Check back often for new recordings.  Enjoy!!

Boston-based Shannon Heaton specializes in Irish wooden flute and traditional Irish-style singing. She has been heralded as one of North America's finest traditional musicians (Massachusetts Cultural Council Traditional Arts Fellow 2016; IAN 2009 Female Musician of the Year; Live Ireland 2010 Female Artist of the Year). She is wildly creative teacher, and has published two flute/fiddle method books. Her latest, "First 50," is a collection of notated tunes with accompanying recordings. The book includes breathing marks for flute players and bowing for fiddle players, showing musicians how to play with minimal ornamentation and maximum rhythmic stability.

The award-winning GS Duo formed in early 2010 during their undergraduate  classical studies at Stetson University. Flutist Angela Galestro and guitarist  Jonathan Smith have delighted audiences across the entire United States and in  concert as far away as Argentina and Italy. Both highly accomplished artists, the duo  offers a diverse repertoire of classical, jazz, Latin American, and popular music. 

GS Duo has performed for international events and festivals including the  National Flute Association, GuitarSarasota, Suonare in Italia, and the Mediterranean  Guitar Festival. They were awarded a top prize in the Chamber Music division for  The American Prize Competition in 2016 and 1st prize in the ensemble division at the  Southern Guitar Festival in 2014. 

Angela and Jonathan each earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from Shenandoah  Conservatory, Master of Music from The University of Akron, and Bachelor of Music  from Stetson University. Residing in Sarasota, Florida, the duo continues to work with  organizations in the community such as the Church of the Palms, Sarasota Orchestra,  and the Sarasota Music Conservatory while operating their independent record label,  Glaize Avenue Studios.
