Ostgut Ton aficionado Anthony Parasole has helped keeping New York techno in the headlines over the last decade. The long time Halcyon store worker is not only a co-partner in Deconstruct Music with Levon Vincent, but he also runs his own no holds barred label, The Corner.  There is a very real sense of grit and streetwise attitude in everything he does, from the music he makes to the sets he lays down, and that raw energy never fails to consume all those who experience it. 

The podcast he serves up here is a near three hour live recording of him playing a warm up set on home turf at Output, New York.  As such it finds him really stretching his legs, starting out dark and atmospheric before journeying into more airy ambience, melodic slo jams and spaced out techno. Keeping a vibe alive for extended periods of time is no mean feat, but is something that Parasole truly excels as evidence here when he invites you deep down into his very personal rabbit hole.

Modular synth master Richard Devine’s music moves like a slightly unhinged force, in rapid clicks and metallic thrums or funk addled scattering beats. An Atlanta-based producer with full length releases on Warp, Schematic, Sublight and Detroit Underground in the past 15 years, as well as an accomplished sound designer and maker of synthesizer kits (among soundtracks and samples, he’s built an expansion pack for Moog Music’s Animoog app), Devine made huge professional inroads in the digital realm, yet recently felt called to the modular and analog in his own music. Constantly reconfiguring his own hardware systems, Devine creates music by processing layer after layer of sounds derived from hip hop, pop, field recordings and electronic tracks; and in 2013 released his own official sample library, The Electronic Music Manuscript, through Sony Creative Software. Performing live, he’s equipped with an enviable arsenal of sounds and the ability to manipulate them to his experimental liking, constructing a sonic experience that’s never the same twice. MUTEK 2015 marked Devine’s first live modular set in Canada and the premiere of his “Disturbances” live patch, custom built for organic on-the-fly songwriting, from abstract ambient compositions to rhythmic bombardments.

It is with great pleasure that we get to announce the milestone of reaching Volume 20 and what better way to do it then with a mix from one of our own.

Back in 2012, LLBCJ was born. About a year later, the Soundcloud was birthed and we uploaded the first Volume, with some amazing guests featuring along the way. 

Four years down the line and the latest offering is one of our absolute best yet, if we say so ourselves!

@charlieturbo is a guy I have known for a long, long time and as you can imagine, I've seen him mixing for the majority of that. His passion for this music is unmatched, so I am personally ecstatic to finally have a mix of his that is this good, ready to share with the headz.
