This particular incarnation of the John Dougherty Trio was a "battle jazz" band featuring seasoned and veteran virtuoso jazz guitarist JOHN FRANCIS II DOUGHERTY (Born:  Tuesday, 18-January-1944; Died:  Saturday, 12-March-2011), music teacher, guitar theory/pedagogy author, Berklee College of Music alumnus, one of the fastest guitarists in the world during the 70's and 80's (DOUGHERTY excelled in track at school), and inventor of the first stone guitar pick, the "MIN'D Pick."  DOUGHERTY collaborated with famous musicians George Benson, Ernie Watts, and Kool and the Gang, for whom he wrote a portion of "Celebration."  While living in Boston, MASSACHUSETTS, U.S.A., DOUGHERTY worked with world-class acts George Benson, Phil Woods, Kool and the Gang, James Brown, Lonnie Smith, Wilson Picket, Sam & Dave, Pat Martino, Ernie Watts, Pat La Barbar, Ronnie Cuber, Richard "Groove" Holmes, and Jimmy McGriff, to name a few.  Come May 1993 in Wilmington, DELAWARE, U.S.A., DOUGHERTY teamed up with drummer Joe Dabrowski, and bassist Rich Meyers, each also Berklee alumni.  These recordings are from several live rehearsals held in May 1993.

I've been Playing music since Mom bought me a guitar for Christmas in 1983 and I love writing, recording and especially playing live. Lateley I've been writing and recording with Marc Tomlinson under the name Filo Betto.

We're musicians on a journey, sharing the gift of music with all who will join in, listen and enjoy. :)

Chris Lewis, singer, songwriter and guitar player for Filo Betto is an independent Americana artist in Phoenix Arizona . Currently performing as a solo acoustic artist in the Phoenix metro valley playing curated classic covers and original music. 

His second album from Filo Betto, "Life by a Thousand Cuts, Vol. 1," released in 2021, marked a significant milestone in Chris' writing career as an independent musician. This project showcases his soulful clean vocal style,  guitar and songwriting skills, drawing on influences from a range of genres including Americana, Rock, Blues, and Soul. 

His latest release, Fire Below, released in 2023 explores a story of physical chronic pain and the constant battle for it's recognition. Chris is currently in the studio finishing his next EP, titled The Other Side Of Me, to be released in October 29 of this year. You can find Chris performing at venues all across the Phoenix metro valley in 2024 supporting the songs on the upcoming EP.

Started guitar at age 6. 55 years later... no signs of stopping.
