Trying to establish himself as a credible lyricist and performer Jay Fitz believes there are “too many artists doing the same thing at the moment and talking about the same stuff. It’s like ‘we’ve’ become afraid to say something different in case it isn't accepted.” 

“Every track I do is from the heart! Whether it be an R’n’B slow jam to a serious issue, or just fooling around. No person is one dimensional! Sometimes I wanna do a R’n’B/pop song, sometimes I want to get creative and think up a story and then others I want to get personal and get things off my chest. Through my music I wanna show all sides of my character, if it’s in you, do it! But don’t force it, despite what others may think of it! 

"i'm also a firm believer of 'quality not quantity' putting out a song every month doesn't mean its any good! too many people are just saturating the scene with tracks with no substance or thought to what they are saying, then they put another one out saying the same shit they said on the last track?!"

With successful gigs under his belt and more recently branching out to London to perform and get a name his main focus now is to work hard in the studio and get 'the right track list' together. "until i have an all round track that can rival the charts I'm just gonna keep writing and recording until approaching labels etc then its time to get out there, I've had offers and opportunities but not the right situation, i don't wanna do this just for the sake of being famous or for it to be over a year later. i want a long career in music so until then I'm holding out for the right situation that will allow me to do this full time"
