Closing set of what I have defined as "Mystical Bass" at Earthdance Mabon Equinox 2014 in the Heart of Dragon Land, Cambrian Mountains, Wales, UK. Following an epic Live performance by Brujo’s Bowl @brujosbowl, I was blessed to channel this mix under the luminous sun during the afternoon of the 21st September, the Autumn Equinox, the International Day of Peace, and also my Birthday =) A magical gathering aligned with Earthdance International and also with the ancient pagan rituals of Mabon.

Opening set of the urban festival “Psychometric PicNic 2015” at the mighty Saint Luke’s Bombed Out Church in Liverpool, UK. This enchanted Gothic Church was badly damaged during the Liverpool Blitz in 1941 and it remains as a roofless shell, standing as a memorial to those who were lost in the Second World War... The journey ends with a memorial to those who were lost in the Second World War, channelled through the viola of Plantrae…

"So upon being asked about making a mix for the Aquatic Collective and using my thoughts on water as a theme was a route I'd never thought about when making a mix. My previous mixes, which are mainly drumless ambient take on cultural and locality references, usually flicking between the Indian subcontinent, and "deep space" (wherever that may be). So with a mix based around water brought some interesting ideas to mind. When I think of 'watery' beats, I think dub techno, and when I think dub techno, I think Deepchord, and when I think Deepchord, I think the frozen wilderness of Norway and the Siberian taiga.

So definitely some Deepchord & Echospace had to be in here at some point. The recurring field recording that the mix starts of with was from a Em:t compilation my friend bought me, then moving into Susumu Yokota which I have fond memories of sitting on the concrete wavebreakers in Japan looking out to a watery horizon. Although here in England I rarely see the sea, over in Japan, I had a nice balance between the vast Pacific and remote mountain springs. So making a water themed mix has been interesting, because I'm not particularly fond of 'big' water.... I can't swim for shit, expansive water is a little scary, so I tried including track that have memories or feelings of ice, humidity, fog, or being on a imaginary submarine expedition."

Aquatic Collective Guest Mixes

A project unlike any other comes to Desert Trax this fall. Between 2009 and 2012, psychedelic bass producer Twin Shape created but left unfinished three songs that tied him inextricably to a certain time and place. As the years went on, these pieces remained rough and untouched, until he sought the help of three fellow producers to help him complete these songs.
The result is the 'Auxiliatus' EP. From the Latin to support, Alterra, Shwamp , and COAM stepped in to give Twin Shape distance, perspective, and help to revisit these original creations and give them a contemporary feel on Seeded, D&N and Glimpse, respectively. Three tightly wound compositions that have spanned nearly a decade since their inception now come to life with throbbing low end and alien implications. A strong recommendation for fans of Bird of Prey, Phutureprimitive, and Ott.

Standout Desert Trax contributor Key-G steps in for a remix of the Alterra collab, Seeded, to round out this 4-track set. The Auxiliatus EP is finally available September 13th.

Twin Shape & Alterra - Seeded (Key - G Remix)

A realm of wild darkness and tranquilizing light, Liquid Bloom and TRIBONE’s ‘Interbeing’ explores the inextricably-bound forces of the musical universe through six mystifying tracks drawn from the lands of worldly downtempo, tribal bass, and driving psychedelic electronica.

Inspired by the fast-paced soundscapes of the global dance floor, the original ‘Interbeing’ mix unleashes a barrage of mid-tempo beats overlaid with primal energy and supported by a haunting psychedelic undercurrent that resounds through each track in the EP collection. 

Without slowing down, Liquid Bloom and TRIBONE bring additional space to Interbeing’s dark atmospheres with their hypnotic and tactile “Deep Tech Mix,” while producer-duo 'Jakare' provides a tantalizing tribal house remix flavored with additions of charango and pan flute.

Maintaining the psychedelic edge of the original composition, British psybass producer 'Sigil' draws listeners into a twisted breakbeat journey that plunges deeper into the original’s shadowy tones. 

Taking a more luminous path, 'Kaya Project' guides his rendition toward uplifting territory with his signature world-fusion style, introducing stirring organic beats, seraphic vocal samples, and a soothing blend of synths and instrumentation to draw out Interbeing’s brighter elements.

Gui from Argentina, Litoral region. After venturing into several groups and instruments (drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals), Gui discovers the world of musical production and founded Expedizion in 2008.
Since then the project works as a base of sonic experimentation, always looking for a sensitive, emotional, mental and spiritual expantion, without forgetting the rule of the 4 sacred L’s: Listen, Live and Love Life !
