Called INSTANT fryhide, it will see one special, much talked about track get an instant release with no promo, premiers or press announcements in advance. There will be no schedule for releases and it will see music put out as fast as possible whenever there is a track that suits the concept. Thank you for finding the latest in the In Too Deep series.  I wanted to drop a set that summed up what we have nearly all felt we have missed in 2020.  The ability to start a night out with a few chill tunes just to get us in the mood, maybe a couple of ‘pre drinks’… the anticipation of the night ahead… and then the night itself.  Funky Chap and I wanted to create a set that carried you through the journey of a great night out from beginning to end to remind us all that it won’t be long until we are able to get out there again and share a great time with friends and fresh tunes to match.
For this set you will find Funky Chap spinning the first hour in typical fashion from him.. an eclectic style that I struggle to find anyone else managing with such a cool and well, funky approach.  I’d say it’s very unique, and that’s what I love about him.  As head honcho of one of the best and most established channels out there with Sunset Grooves, it was a great honour to have him aboard for this trip.

So I play the second hour, and I’m going back to my roots with a peak time clubby sound that I wanted you to close your eyes and imagine you are there amongst it all, with the wonderful people, the lights, the bass, hands in the air.. ah, how we miss it !

From Funky Chap..   I have been a fan of John’s edits and track selection from the moment I first heard him. Therefore the moment we got together to make this in too deep mix and being in charge of starting it off, I got inspired to choose tracks that would take the dance floor on a unique musical experience. Naturally, being the founder of @sunset-grooves my track selection always varies yet has that groove that will keep driving the mix. The idea is to get the listener all warmed up so that John can take over and exhaust the listeners to a frenzy. Anyone who follows us at InstitutionYWG will know the name Tim Penner.

We first met Tim, and his amazing wife Trish, at Amsterdam Dance Event in 2016.  The connection was instant, and we haven't looked back. In fact, meeting Tim was a major influence in deciding to start up "Institution" in the first place.

Tim Penner is a true artist. He unapologetically creates unique, lush, hypnotic sounds. He is truly gifted, not just in his producing skills (he has acclaimed releases on Slideways, J00F, Proton, Replug, Mango Alley, and, most recently, Sudbeat), but also in DJing, in presenting these sounds to the dance floor. Anyone who has had the great fortune of seeing him play live will attest to this fact. 

Given this, it seems appropriate that Mr Penner created this 3 hour gem as a livestream, and was generous enough to offer it up to us as an exclusive Soundcloud mix.

Bio :

My name is Lukas Schwarz and I live in a small village in Austria.
I've been interested in music since childhood. I played drums for 8 years and played in a large orchestra.
after a while i decided to stop.
I did not want to anymore.

After a long period of standstill and exploring various musical styles, I decided from my experience of music to do something of my own.
i learned to love, feel and understand electronic music.
I was always fascinated by emotional, melancholic atmospheres, but also danceable deep mood often makes me blossom.
I wavered a long time with my productions. finally I was accepted into the dubtechno family, where I released an ep named „changes in the matrix“ with two artists and now good friends.

so i slid more and more into the depths of the music and i just clung to deep atmospheric sounds that excited me and the listener. i have released much music on this point.
„deep structures“ „10,32 Kelvin“ „drafted love“ and much more of singles and productions on Various artists albums.

but i didn't want to belong to any fixed genre.
I did this and that. Sometimes ambient, sometimes dubtechno and sometimes something of my own.

so I decided to be free.
I just decided to do what I love and want to produce.

because it is difficult to remain steadfast in this world full of music and to make a decision.

I remain true to my inner voice and will follow my dark emotional streak as far as possible.

➢I hope you agree to answer a few random and fun questions to share with our listeners?

➢To start you off tell us what song puts you in a good mood when you wake up in the morning?

 This morning I was listening to «Stretch – Why Did you Do it?» while spilling coffee all over the floor….

➢Tell us two or three must know facts about your “Die Empathie” events that you run in Zurich? 

«Die Empathie» started back then in 2015 with Phuong. Instead of doing decoration, we create worlds. We tell a story – for one time only. Then close the book and let the memory last forever. Last time we took about 15 wrecked cars and were dancing in to the sunset on the roofs of them.

➢You have played with a number of excellent artists, tell us who blew your mind the most? 

To blow my mind, it’s rarely the artists itself that causes that. It’s a merge between music, people, occasion and most important the unexpected.

➢Since the pandemic it has been difficult time for the music scene, how has it changed within Zurich and what do you think will be different when things return to a certain “normality”? 

I have to say, that I was playing my fingers to the bone in 2020. Switzerland was on of the only countries where you could have raves up to 300 ppl. This stopped in September and I went to Ibiza to take a timeout. If someone told me, that I will go once to Ibiza to take a rest from clubbing, I would have him/her delivered to the madhouse😂

Actually I try not to worry about the «return of normality» as I can not change it. I accept the current situation and try to make the best out of it. Nevertheless I am looking forward to transmit my feelings through music in front of people and most importantly feel the warmth of hugs.

➢Lastly, regarding this mix you have done for us, can you tell us a little bit of your thought process behind choosing the tracks you chose?

 The choice of my tracks happens mostly spontaneous depending on my mood of the day. If I try to prepare the set a week earlier, I would rip it of completely the next day as I am not happy with it. I can’t listen to pumping techno when I am all alone at home. Never had. Never will. So if possible, make you’re self comfortable, if possible try to catch a sunray or two and get lost in beautiful memories – It was at least my mood while recording.

With a unique feeling to adapt the music with the situation and over 27 years of career (since 1998), this guy is a reference into the Brazilian and World's e-music scene. 

He was the creator of the largest public electronic party stage that Brazil has ever had (Virada Cultural), which at its peak had a historic 80,000 people on the dance floor and has played at the biggest clubs and festivals in the world, including ADE - Amsterdam Dance Event - in October 2016.
